BECKLEY SUBBING FOR DECEGLIE

Mountain View Racing team owner Nick Mitsos announced today that veteran driver Dave Beckley will be behind the wheel of the team’s Dodge Stratus Pro Stock entry on an interim basis beginning with this weekend’s Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Pomona Raceway. Beckley, 45, of Wildomar, Calif., will handle the driving while the team’s
regular driver, Vinnie Deceglie, takes a brief hiatus in order to tend to an illness in the family.

“First off, I want to stress that this is a temporary move and that Vinnie will be back behind the wheel of our Mountain View Dodge as soon as possible,” said Mitsos. “Vinnie is like a son to me and right now our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. In the meantime, Dave is an experienced driver who is more than capable of driving our Mountain View Dodge. We have worked with Dave in the past so we know exactly what to expect. We are very comfortable working with each other.” Mountain View Racing team owner Nick Mitsos announced today that veteran driver Dave Beckley will be behind the wheel of the team’s Dodge Stratus Pro Stock entry on an interim basis beginning with this weekend’s Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Pomona Raceway. Beckley previously drove the Mountain View team’s Chevy Corvette in Comp Eliminator, where he earned his lone NHRA national event victory at the 2006 Jeg’s Pacific SPORTSnationals. Beckley also has prior experience in the Pro Stock class, making three appearances during the 2001 season. During recent pre-season testing at the Pro Stock Showdown in Las Vegas, Beckley made his first runs in the team’s 210-mph Dodge, recording a best elapsed time of 6.76 seconds.

“I haven’t driven a Pro Stock car in several years so I was a bit rusty, but after a few runs, I’m starting to get the hang of it again,” said Beckley. “I’m flattered that Nick and the Mitsos family have asked me to drive their car, but at the same time, I’m just keeping the seat warm for Vinnie. We all wish him the best and want to see him back as soon as possible.”

Entering its second season of Pro Stock competition in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, the Mountain View team recently forged an alliance with veteran racer Allen Johnson, whose J&J Racing Team will supply the engines for each of the Mountain View team’s 15 scheduled events.  The team will also benefit from the expertise of Johnson’s crew, including crew chiefs Mark Ingersoll, and Jeff Pearley.
