BATTLE OF THE BRANDS ANNOUNCES NEW ULTRA STREET CLASS FOR 2009

Watching late model musclecars battle it out for supremacy on the quarter mile is part of what made the golden age of drag BATTLE_OF_THE_BRANDS09_LOW_RES.jpgracing in the sixties so very special. With that in mind, Battle of the Brands is bringing some of that back with their new Ultra Street eliminator for 2009.

“People still remember the epic battles between the Stock and Super Stock musclecars from a generation ago,” said Bill Alexander, president of the company. “Talks with our racers, fans, media partners and manufacturers have also shown there’s still a strong interest in low cost, entry level racing for late model street enthusiasts. That’s why we decided to create the new Ultra Street class. It combines the best of both worlds into a class that has all the ingredients to really take off.” Watching late model musclecars battle it out for supremacy on the quarter mile is part of what made the golden age of drag BATTLE_OF_THE_BRANDS09_LOW_RES.jpgracing in the sixties so very special. Sponsored by RPM Outlet of Houston, TX, Ultra Street will be open to all 2005 and later six and eight cylinder stock suspension entries of all brands. Power adders are permitted. Tire and wheel combinations will be the racer’s choice with a maximum drag slick size of 10.5x28. Eliminations will be contested on a dial-in handicap. This class will be run at all events with a season champion to be crowned at the annual awards banquet immediately following the final event of the year.

“As word about this exciting new class spreads,” said Alexander, “we expect that this will become one of the most popular classes in the series with everyone. We expect that a number of our True Street racers and even car show participants will want to get in on this right away.”
