Hall is running the first of the Pat Musi-built, 632-inch engines equipped with the newly introduced Vic Edelbrock symmetrical cylinder heads. These engines are regularly advertised with 1200 HP, minus nitrous, for under $27,000. Nitrous brings the total to 1,600 horses.

Hall told CompetitionPlus.com that he expects his dragster to produce times in the 6.90 – 7.00 range for the duration of the weekend. His dragster will serve as a test-bed for a three-way venture between Musi, Edelbrock and Jesel.

“The thing that appealed to me the most is that Pat took a lot of the work out of the equation for me,” Hall admitted. “This engine is user friendly.”

Hall’s daily regimen is as a sales engineer at Moroso Performance, which rarely allows an abundance of spare time to undertake special alterations to make the heads work better with the engine combination.

“I really like the fact that Jesel has made a one-piece rocker stand for this engine,” Hall explained. “Typically the Jesel stands are in pairs and you have to weld them together. This is a one-piece billet base.”

Hall went on to say because Edelbrock has been able to develop a diverse package, that adds to the value of the Musi 632 package.

“You have a complete package that many other companies just don’t have,” Hall said. “It’s definitely a good price for everything you get in there. You get much more than you pay for.

“Many of the manufacturers have spent the money investing in these parts to build reliability and then you have the engine builders such as Pat who are taking that dependability and adding horsepower to the equation. We are at a point where the components can outweigh the demand being put on them.

“That means an engine can now go as many as 200 runs whereas it used to only get about 150. When money is tight like it is in today’s economy getting more runs at a good price is always welcome.”
