“Double your pleasure, double your fun” may be a common refrain among
drivers competing in Thunder Valley at George Howard’s newest event,
the April 3-5 TCI Twins.
“Twin” bracket events, which provide the event’s title, run Friday and Sunday at Bristol Dragway, with winner purses of $10,000 in the Electronics class and $5,000 in the Non-Electronics class. The highlight of the weekend comes on Saturday with $100,000 to win in the Pro Division. Another $10,000 race follows on Saturday.
Event Promoter Howard says the total weekend purse, close to $200,000, will attract a large contingent of sportsman racers from across the country. “Double your pleasure, double your fun” may be a common refrain among drivers competing in Thunder Valley at George Howard’s newest event, the April 3-5 TCI Twins.

“I’m looking for over 400 cars, 500 maybe,” said Howard. “We had a huge turnout at the event in Rockingham in early March. Rockingham was a good event, but I look for Bristol to be even better.”
In addition to enormous purses, reasonable entry fees keep the event in reach of even the most budget-conscious racers.
“It is a good, cheap entry fee for some big money,” explained Howard. “There are three $10,000-to-win races and the $100,000. So, we’re looking at around $200,000 dollars, including round money, in terms of the purse. This could be the biggest bracket race ever at Bristol money-wise.”
Junior Dragster events also will take place during the weekend, with a $300 purse up-for-grabs each day. Tech cards are $20 per day, or $50 for all three days.
Spectator admission is $15 per day or $40 for a weekend pass.
Gates open at 8 a.m. all three days, with Time Trials at 10 a.m. both Friday and Saturday. The first round of the TCI Twins takes place at 5 p.m. on Friday.
Racing begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with a bonus race and heads-up race scheduled later in the evening. Sunday begins with a church service at 9:30 a.m. The first round of eliminations rolls off at 10:30 a.m.
