ARP QUESTION OF THE WEEK RESULTS - ... SURVEY SAYS, BRING ON THE DRY-HOPS
When NHRA Pro Stock driver Shane Gray brought up the rpms and did a dry hop at the 2017 Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals prior to staging his qualifying run, the fans in the stands at Brainerd International Raceway gave a standing ovation.
In the latest ARP Question of the Week poll, a 54-percent majority of the 5,000-plus votes cast said their favorite procedure of the past was the dry-hop. Seating the clutch in the pits, also referred to as whacking the throttle was second at 46-percent.
CompetitionPlus.com reader Bruce Dyda commented, "Not important. I remember those days; Nitro is a different fuel these days, the sound and the smell of it that either one who remembers those days of dry hops would be disappointed when the 85% limit was placed on them."
John Curtis Smith added, "I enjoyed both. Funny Cars aren't the same as the past. More cool looking and exciting. I still love the smells and sounds of nitro. NHRA is screwing up drag racing. Pro Stock is boring as hell. PSB sucks. Small tire racing is where the action is."
