ARP QUESTION OF THE WEEK RESULTS - SURVEY SAYS ... BRING ON THE MOUNTAINS

The majority of CompetitionPlus.com readers who participated in the ARP Question of the Week feel the NHRA should bring in the mountain motors to race alongside the 500-inch engines.

Initially, the voting was one-sided with an overwhelming majority of the readership feeling a mix was best for the class, a last-minute push of the traditionalist narrowed the "for" total to 55-percent of the 4,400-plus votes cast.

Our Facebook community was pretty opinionated.

"Now we're back to where we were in the 70's with weight breaks and all kinds of issues," wrote Robert Afflerback. "It didn't work then and it won't work now. Also, the big money teams will just build mountain motor cars and the people that can't, will be gone. The class needs a change but this isn't it."

Michael Anderson added, "Pro Stock Camaro is soooo stale anything would be a welcome infusion. Or just get rid of it and make Pro Mods a class. Been around since the Sox & Martin, Grumpy Jenkins, Dick Landy, Don Nicholson days, at least there was some verity back then. If you're not a Chevy fan then ..."

Robert Swan concluded, "Mountain motors and carburetors if racers want and I bet we will see new faces!"
