ARP QUESTION OF THE WEEK RESULTS - SURVEY SAYS ... GIVE INCENTIVES FOR FORDS, MOPARS IN PRO STOCK

Do what needs to be done to fix the challenge of attracting more entries within Pro Stock. This is what the overwhelming majority of CompetitionPlus.com readers said in the most recent ARP Question of the Week.

With a 69-percentage of the 7,391 votes cast in the weekly poll, the readers would like to see NHRA's tech department offer incentives to Mopar and Ford drivers to more participation.

These readers also took to the CompetitionPlus Facebook Page.

"Sounds like 1972 all over again," Ken Hamer wrote. "Mopar Hemis easily won the Pro Stock championship the first two years of the class in 1970 and 1971. NHRA then effectively legislated the Hemi out of competition since the big-block Chevy and Ford motors couldn't beat the Hemis. Rather than weight breaks, NHRA needs to do something to reduce the cost of racing in all of the pro classes in order to bring in more racers to all of the classes.
The glory days of drag racing saw special local events with upwards of 64 Top Fuel or Funny Cars. Those days are gone forever."

Drag racer and reader John Farr added,"There were several times when Fords (Glidden) and Mopar (Sox) were dominate like GM is now. GM complained and threatened to quit so NHRA "Factored" those manufactures. With that being said it is time NHRA showed them the flip side of that coin."
