BOB TASCA III’S NO. 1 QUALIFYING RUN THROWN OUT; HIGHT REMAINS NO. 1

In a late Saturday night release by NHRA, breaking news developed in the nitro Funny Car class.

Bob Tasca III’s 3.842-second elapsed time at a track-record speed of 336.74 mph in Q4 Saturday evening to claim the No. 1 qualifying position at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was disqualified due to a failed post-run inspection.

J.R. Todd and Jeff Diehl also had their Q4 runs thrown out because of failed post-run inspections.

With Tasca’s Q4 run voided, it moved Robert Hight back to the No. 1 spot on the qualifying ladder with his 3.851-second run on Friday.

Tasca, meanwhile, will bump down to the No. 2 spot on the ladder with his top run from Friday – 3.853-second lap.

Todd remains in the No. 10 spot and Diehl is the No. 16 qualifier.

This is Hight’s 83rd No. 1 qualifier of his career and sixth this season. With the announcement, Hight was given one more qualifying bonus point to give him 12 for the event.

Tasca had his bonus points cut from five to two points when his Q4 run was tossed out.

The modified nitro Funny Car ladder has Hight meeting Diehl in round one and Tasca meeting up with Steven Densham.
