CAMERON FERRÉ RETURNS TO DRIVE FOR PATON RACING IN CHARLOTTE THIS WEEKEND

Cameron Ferré is back in the driver’s seat of the Paton Racing Top Fuel Dragster.

Ferré will be driving for the family-owned operation at the NHRA Circle K Four-Wide Nationals this weekend at Zmax Dragway in Charlotte, N.C.

After some sponsor issues to start the year, the team postponed its 2022 NHRA Top Fuel debut with Ferré.

“I cannot tell you how excited I am to be back in this car,” Ferré said in a release. “I feel the team and I have some unfinished business to attend to and we're ready to start this weekend. This is a great competitive operation and we felt it was best to come out and show a few people and companies what we have to offer instead of convincing them in a boardroom meeting. We are using the weekend’s race as our sales pitch. We want to show what a great value this team is within the NHRA in hopes of staying out here on a more regular basis.”

The last time Ferré drove for Paton Racing it was at the 2021 Auto Club NHRA Finals Nov. 14 in Pomona, Calif., where he had a career-best performance.

He qualified No. 14 and upset Leah Pruett in the first round and Clay Millican in the second round before losing to eventual world champion Steve Torrence in the semis by six thousandths of a second.

“It was the highlight of my career in Top Fuel so far, that’s for sure,” Ferré said to CompetitionPlus.com.

This season Ferré has kept busy by driving Terry Haddock’s Top Fuel entry in Las Vegas and Houston.

“Terry called me before Vegas and asked if I would help him get his new car dialed in for some leasing opportunities,” Ferré said. “I jumped at the chance. Terry is a great guy and one of the first people in the fuel ranks who gave me a chance a few years ago so I am always willing to help him and his team.”

This weekend, the Paton team acquired a handful of associate funding for the Circle K Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte including Fast Eddie Speed Wear, 3FP Sensors, JBS Equipment, Performance Ventures brand; Skinny Fix, Smokies Garage, Performance Data Systems, Market Equipment Repair, ARP, Ultimate Design, and Brico Industries.

“It’s a group effort this weekend from many companies that believe in us and want to help us gain the traction to keep this deal alive and we can’t thank them enough,” said Todd Paton, co-owner of Paton Racing. “You don’t win and promote brands sitting at the shop and our current partners understand that. They want to see us succeed. We are excited to thank them by putting up some solid numbers with our new six-disc clutch program and go some rounds.”
