There's a lot to be said for being content in life, and there's even more to be said for being content in drag racing. 

Make no mistake about it: Taylor  Chomiski is precisely where he wants to be in drag racing. Comp Eliminator is definitely his playground. 

"I had big dreams and tried to put some proposals together a few years ago to step up, but the way Pro Stock has changed, my dad and I couldn't build the engines or have the resources to be able to do it," Taylor said. "It's just a really hard game. So what we're doing now, we're competitive, we're having fun. This is the best racing, probably you can rival any era of Comp. 

"You might not have 128 cars, but you got three-quarters or 80% of the field within four or five hundredths, which is cool. So we're in a great era for this. Do I have any big dreams to do anything else? You never know. There's no door that's ever closed, but right now, I'm exactly where I want to be."

Let the record reflect that Taylor is perfectly fine shifting the gears on his Liberty transmission, with the 333-inch small block in his Chevrolet Cobalt screaming to eight-teen-second elapsed times. 

Taylor's dad, Gary, plied his trade as a talented crewman for multiple Pro Stock teams, but it was his passion for Comp that inspired him to steer his son towards what many call a "Complicated" Eliminator.

"My dad got me into this," Taylor said. "I've been going to the racetrack before I can even remember when I was eight weeks old. So, growing up around it, I found a few things through high school and college, played a little hockey, and came back to drag racing. It's always a challenge. It's fun, and I get to do it with my dad every day. So we haven't lived in the same city in probably 15, 17 years, but we get to have Sunday dinner and Saturday night dinner together probably three times a month because of this stuff."

Without a doubt, Gary, who runs Chomiski Performance with Taylor, is as happy as happy can be. 

"He's doing a great job," Gary said. "I actually don't want anyone else behind the wheel. I trust him over anybody. I've done this for 50 years, Modified and in Comp. We love racing here and doing it together."

Taylor added, "It's fun, it's competitive, and I get to do it with him and we have a blast doing it, so that's why we're here."
