EDDIE KRAWIEC GETS HIS 50TH CAREER NO. 1 QUALIFYING POSITION IN NORWALK

Eddie Krawiec has quite the Pro Stock Motorcycle career, winning four Pro Stock Motorcycle world championships in 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2017 on a Harley-Davidson for Vance & Hines.

Krawiec has remained a perennial championship contender and now competing on a Suzuki for Vance & Hines he’s still in the mix.

On Saturday, he clocked a 6.798-second elapsed time at 199.17 mph to take the top qualifying spot at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals Friday in Norwalk, Ohio and the 50th of his career.

“Fifty (low qualifiers), that makes me sound really old,” said Krawiec in his post press conference after nabbing top spot. “That’s a great accomplishment and it’s great to be one of the few people who can do that. I think we’ve turned the corner with my motorcycle, especially in the heat. We don’t really have data with my motorcycle as we do with (teammate Angelle Sampey’s). Not everything correlates.

“We took a big swing for Q3, and it worked. Then it repeated on the second lap. I’ve got a good motorcycle for tomorrow. We just need to keep it managed. If we can do that, I‘ve got a good chance. To get 50 (low qualifiers) and 50 wins in the same weekend would be something cool. There’s not many who can say they’ve done that, and wins are a lot harder to come by these days. It’s a lot harder than 15 or 20 years ago.”

Krawiec, who collected three of his 49 career victories in Norwalk, faces  Jianna Evaristo in round one. Evaristo clocked a 7.099-second elapsed time at 190.65 mph.

Sampey qualified second with a 6.801-second elapsed time at 197.94 mph.

Krawiec arrived in Norwalk sixth in the point standings and has a 7-5 elimination round record. He has three semifinal efforts this season.
