FORCE MOVES ON TO REHAB CENTER

The last 15 days have been challenging for 17-time Funny Car champion John Force. But in the last week, the results have been encouraging for Force, who suffered a horrendous crash on June 23, 2024, in Dinwiddie, Virginia. Force suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury [TBI] as well as a wrist and sternum injury.

Force, who was hospitalized in varying levels of intensive care at VCU Medical Center, left the facility on Tuesday and boarded an AirMed ambulance for a three-hour flight to a neurological rehab center receiving further treatment for the TBI.

While this is a major step forward in the recovery process, medical staff cautioned that the road ahead still is a difficult one.  Force still faces issues with cognitive and behavioral symptoms from the TBI and, while he has been able to converse with family and staff, he still is prone to periods of confusion.

Family members said that no timetable had been established for the length of Force’s stay at the new facility, which was selected because of its success in treating other race car drivers with similar issues.
