JIM OBERHOFER HEADING TO AUSTRALIA IN 2023.

Veteran NHRA tuner Jim Oberhofer will join legendary Australian Top Fuel team Jim Read Racing for rounds three and four of the Australian Top Fuel Championship at Willowbank Raceway, January 6-7 and Sydney Dragway, January 27-28.

Oberhofer has close links with the Read family and last visited Australia in January 2020 where he worked alongside tuner Bruce Read on the car driven by three-time champion Phil Read.

“I am very excited about coming over,” said Oberhofer. “I have always enjoyed heading to Australia and being around the Read family – I always say they are my Australian family and Bruce Read is one of my dearest friends and a brother to me.”

Oberhofer with close to four decades of experience in the NHRA, tuned the Parts Plus dragster driven by Clay Millican to eighth place in the 2022 Camping World Drag Racing series.

JRR made history in January 2022 when they won the inaugural round of the Australian Top Fuel championship and closed out the season in fifth place. The team opened their 2022-23 season with a second and fifth at the Perth Motorplex in November.

“I like winning and it doesn’t matter what country you are in or who you are racing, a win is a win, and to be able to come down there to Australia and race the competition that you have down there is going to be great.”

“Between Bruce and I we are going to do the best job to give Phil the best race car we can.”

“I am definitely looking forward to getting back down there and helping Bruce and Jim and Phil put that car in the winner’s circle,” said Oberhofer.
