LIZZY MUSI WILL RACE PDRA ROCKINGHAM

Thanks to a loaner car from Mike Bankston, Pro Nitrous racer Lizzy Musi will return to action this weekend at the PDRA Spring Nationals at Rockingham Dragway.

Both Musi and Ron Muenks walked away uninjured from a two-car crash during last month's PDRA Texas Nationals outside of Dallas, Texas. Musi lost control of the new Frank Brandau-owned, Jerry Bickel-built Dodge Dart in the shutdown area and made contact with Muenks' Camaro's quarter-panel. While she made contact with the retaining wall, Muenks was able to corral his car under control and made the
turn-off at the end of the track.

"We were going to sit out a race, but we had a tremendous amount of support to get Lizzy back in a car to go racing," said Pat Musi, Lizzy Musi's father and crew chief. "There were so many people who reached out and offered support, that I just want to say 'thank you' to everyone from our sponsors to friends. It meant the world to us."

Ms. Musi will drive the spare 1969 Camaro offered up from Mike Bankston of the Bankston Boys team while the Dart is under repair at Bickel's Moscow Mills, Mo-based shop.

"Sheik Mohammad [Drag 965] from Kuwait offered to ship us a car to use in the interim," Musi added. "He has been a huge support since the accident in calling to check up on Lizzy and the team. Our sponsor Lucas Oil and of course, Frank Brandau, our team owner has been incredible in his support."

Musi confirmed the team would test the new car this Thursday in Rockingham as part of the pre-race test session.

For Lizzy Musi, getting back in the car after her second major accident important.

"I have really wanted to get back to racing," Lizzy said. "Mike Bankston, immediately after my accident, has been there and offering support and confidence in me. Even following the accident, when I was sitting in the ambulance, he told me he had a car from me to drive. He knew my feelings as a racer when something like that happens. He knew I was angry because I had crashed the car and knew I wanted to be back out there racing.

"I just want to get back after it. I'm not nervous about coming back. I think it is natural to have a few nerves when you drive one of these cars. But I am not nervous. I am just going to be cautious because this is a whole different car I am driving. I am just going to go out there and do my normal deal."
