MILLICAN ALSO SCORES MONUMENTAL VICTORY FOR WELD

Clay Millican’s momentous victory in Top Fuel at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals marks the first time WELD Racing’s revolutionary Delta-1 TF-1 one piece forged wheels have rolled into the winner’s circle in the NHRA Top Fuel class.

Millican’s Top Fuel win marks a new chapter for WELD Racing’s Delta-1 one-piece forged wheels. They are the lightest, stiffest and strongest 16x16 double beadlock wheels in drag racing and have taken numerous drivers to NHRA Pro Stock and Pro Mod world championships since it’s debut.

“We are incredibly happy for Clay (Millican) and his whole team for their first NHRA Top Fuel win at the Thunder Valley Nationals. The fact he did it in his home state of Tennessee is phenomenal,” said Norm Young, President and CEO of WELD Racing. “Clay and the entire Stringer Motorsports team represent the very core of WELD Racing – hard work, commitment, passion, and giving 100% all the time. The entire WELD Racing family is proud to call him one of our own.”

It was an emotional Father’s Day win for the six-time IHRA World Champion Top Fuel driver. The Tennessee native has raced to an NHRA Top Fuel runner-up eight times, before winning during his ninth final round appearance. Millican and his wife Donna lost their son Dalton two years ago in a motorcycle accident.

“There were so many signs/things today I know was Dalton. Father’s Day is a tough day for anyone who lost a child. Dalton was riding with me today. He got me four win lights. There is no such thing as a coincidence. When the time was right it was going to happen. Today, the time was right,” said Millican.
