Simply put, Richard Tharp was drag racing's ultimate party animal. We realize that's a lofty title when compared to the likes of the "Jungle" Jim and a cast of other colorful characters who stormed the country racing nitro in the 1970s. Tharp holds strong to his mantra, "A Star I Are, I Saint I Ain't" and stil proudly proclaims the life practice of doing what he wanted to and saying what was on his mind, not exactly the kind of life principles to succeed in today's corporate environment.
