SO YOU THINK YOU’RE GOOD AT PREDICTING DRAG RACING BRACKETS?

Drag racing fans are in for a treat as the inaugural Drag Race Bracket Bonanza (DRBB) kicks off this weekend, allowing enthusiasts to truly participate in the excitement and unpredictability of the U.S. Nationals. Developed as the first dynamic bracket competition for drag racing fans, DRBB empowers fans to make their picks round by round for all four professional classes, predicting the winners and earning points along the way until an overall event winner is determined at the conclusion of the race on Monday. In addition, individual category winners for Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle will be recognized.

Drag Race Bracket Bonanza was brought to life by Elon Werner, the brainchild of this idea and the founder of Werner Communications, who had been contemplating its creation for the past couple of years.

“Drag Racing has the excitement and drama of the college men’s basketball tournament every national event, and we should be capitalizing on that excitement to give our fans more chances to root for their favorite drivers,” said Werner. The intention of this bracket competition is to provide drag racing fans with an opportunity to celebrate the unpredictable nature of the sport and encourage their non-drag racing friends to join in the fun.

The development of DRBB began prior to the 2023 Western Swing, and a team of beta testers has been instrumental in resolving unique challenges related to drag racing and dynamic gameplay. Fans will be able to fill out their brackets on Saturday night once the fields are set, and the submission window will close when the engines roar to life, and the first pair of Top Fuel dragsters begin the first round of eliminations on Sunday or Monday for the U.S. Nationals. As each round progresses, participants earn points corresponding to the correct picks they make. Ultimately, four winners will be crowned at the end of the race, and an overall Countdown Drag Race Bracket Bonanza champion will emerge.

“I want people to get excited about following and participating in the national events beyond just watching them on TV or following on social media,” explained Werner. The objective of Drag Race Bracket Bonanza is to create an engaging platform that provides fans with bragging rights and allows them to deeply involve themselves in the races like never before. Werner also aims to attract casual fans, providing them with a way to follow the races and learn more about the drivers. While the competition will be continually improved with each race, Werner believed now was the time to turn this idea into a reality rather than just discussing it further.

Following the U.S. Nationals, Drag Race Bracket Bonanza will continue its run with the Reading Nationals, the Carolina Nationals, the Midwest Nationals, the Texas Fall Nationals, the Nevada Nationals, and the World Finals in Pomona. The submission window for each race will open on Saturday night when the fields are determined and will close just before the first round of eliminations on Sunday. The same point allocation system and overall championship opportunity will apply, enabling fans to test their skills and enjoy the races with an added sense of excitement.

Drag Race Bracket Bonanza will launch Sunday night after qualifying for the U.S. Nationals concludes. For more details, fans can visit www.dragracebracketbonanza.com.
