VANTINE TOPS MCBRIDE FOR MANCUP TITLE
Each April, a gathering of the baddest racers on two-wheels invade, South Georgia Motorsports Park, located outside of Valdosta, Ga., for the MacCup.
This season's ManCup presented by Vance and Hines delivered in a big way. However, Mother Nature had somewhat of a say.
When rain washed out Saturday's qualifying, a single session was run on Sunday morning followed by eliminations. The race went off without a hitch.
Pingel Top Fuel appeared to be another Larry "Spiderman" McBride show. In Friday testing, McBride ran a great 5.763 at 251.58 but slowed to a more conservative 5.848 at 244 to qualify No. 1. Dave Vantine qualified number two in the four-bike field with a 6.05 at 243 mph.
In round one, McBride had a tire-smoking single when Chris Hand couldn't run, and Vantine defeated Mitch Brown with a 6.105 at 227 mph.
In the final, both Vantine and McBride had problems, but Vantine took the win with a 6.74 at 139mph.
