WAR IS HELL, AND SCHUMACHER AND FORCE ARE BACK AT IT

John Force after making an outstanding run in Saturday's opening qualifying session at the NHRA Winternationals proclaimed of he and Don Schumcher "one of these days we are actually going to be friends, he don't know it, but we are going to be."

Obviously, Schumacher didn't get the memo.

The two exchanged words on the starting line during Saturday's qualifying.

Schumacher, still seething over crew chief Jimmy Prock leaving his team to rejoin Force, essentially refused a handshake between the rival team owners.

"I told him he is ruining the sport," Schumacher said. "When Jimmy came over here I paid him exactly what John was paying him. Force drove up the price well beyond that."

Force didn't share Schumacher's opinion.

"I turned to shake his hand, and he wouldn't shake my hand," Force responded. "I got beat up on the internet two years ago for not shaking hands. Then he just told me I was ruining the sport.

"Ruining the sport? I told him he had his opinion."

"Schumacher told me Jimmy came to him because he hated me. He then said, 'Now you're spending to buy him back."

Force continued, "He said that's how I am ruining the sport; I'm spending to much money. First of all, (I told him) you don't know what I am paying him."

"Schumacher told me he had money to do that but didn't spend it. I told him, 'You're the one that said to me it was business. Nothing personal, just business."

"It's my business to win."
