WHAT I'M THANKFUL FOR ... WITH TERRY MCMILLEN

As a tradition established years ago, CompetitionPlus.com has asked members of the racing community to provide our readers with what they are most thankful for during this holiday season. This year's featured person is Terry McMillen.

Terry is one of those drivers whop pursued a dream against all odds and adversity and never gave up. He came into Top Fuel racing in the early part of the 2000s with more dreams than luck. Almost every week, he was on the highlight reel for one reason or another, and usually not good. Slowly but surely, the Amalie Oil-sponsored driver began to get the breaks and eventually won the crown jewel of drag races at the Top Fuel 2018 NHRA U.S. Nationals. A fan favorite, McMillen is a driver to whom many fans gravitate toward. Consider us at CompetitionPlus.com fans as well.  - Editor

Thankful. Grateful. Blessed. Those are the three words that come to mind when I sit back and think about my life. It has been a roller coaster at times; however, I am the most blessed man in the world, and I am honored that Competition Plus asked me to share with you what I am thankful for this holiday season.

I am THANKFUL for ...  FAMILY

Family is everything to me. I am thankful for my lovely wife, Cori, who supports me and my love of racing. God has blessed me with four incredible boys, Brian, Jason, Andy, and Cameron, and I thank Him every day for them. And of course, I will always be thankful for my mom Mary and my dad Warren. Not only did they raise me with great values, but they taught me to follow my dreams and never give up. I am thankful for the weekends I spent working on cars with my dad. My love of drag racing started by spending time in the garage.

I am THANKFUL for ... MY RACING FAMILY

I don’t know if I can ever express how thankful I am for Rob Wendland and his family. Rob has given so much to this team. He works a lot of hours and gives everything he has to make sure this team succeeds. I am blessed to have him by my side. I am also proud of the team that he has assembled and extremely thankful that Chris, Cody, Kaylynn, Dwight, Joshua, and Josh will be back working with Rob on my team in 2020.

I am THANKFUL for ... AMALIE FAMILY.

I have been a part of the AMALIE family for 20 years. I am thankful that the Barkett brothers chose me to represent their company, and that we will be working together for the next four years.

I am THANKFUL for ... MARKETING PARTNERS

It definitely takes a village to be successful in NHRA drag racing, and I am thankful for my village of marketing partners that continue to believe in my team. We couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of them.

I am THANKFUL for ... MY FRIENDS.

I have had the support of a lot of friends over the years. I am very blessed to be surrounded by so many great people. This dream of racing wouldn’t have been able to come true without their help. Whether helping out at the shop, making cold calls to potential sponsors, or cooking for the team, I am very grateful for everything my friends have done for me. There are too many to list, but I know they know who they are.

I am THANKFUL for ... FANS

I have met a lot of incredible fans over the years. Many of them have turned into friends. I am thankful for every single fan that has cheered our team on, given me words of encouragement, and who have shown their support to our team. Their support means the world to me.

I am THANKFUL for ... THE OFFSEASON

I am thankful for the time during the offseason that I get to spend with my family and friends. I am thankful for the holiday traditions and memories that I make with my family. I am thankful that on Thanksgiving, I will go over to my sister’s house with my seven brothers and sisters and their families and catch up on everything that I missed while I was away racing.

I hope everyone reading this has a blessed Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season! Hope to see you at a race next season!
