WORLD FOOTBRAKE CHALLENGE X – FRIDAY RESULTS

Friday was to have dawned with hot sunshine at the tenth edition of the World Footbrake Challenge presented by Plattinum Products, but Mom (Nature) had other plans. Fortunately her plans didn’t include any of the wet stuff, but cloudy skies greeted the best group of footbrake racers in the nation.

Three hundred and twenty six cars took to the first round of eliminations of the day’s main $10,000 to win race. Things were moving along rather smoothly until the end of the third round when that dreaded “R” word was mentioned. High winds and a severe thunderstorm threat forced everyone to seek shelter. Rain continued for several hours before officials made the executive decision to postpone tonight’s activities.

“With the rain continuing, there is no sense in keeping everyone in limbo,” said Jared Pennington, co-promoter of the WFC. “Both Steve (Stites, co-promoter) and I discussed this along with the Bristol Dragway staff and felt this was the best scenario. We intend to give all our customers the races they came here to run.”

The plan then is for fourth round to continue on Saturday morning at 8:00 sharp after which the eliminations for Friday’s race will continue to conclusion. The plan is still to have the $20,000 to win race on Saturday along with the WFC Gambler’s in addition to the Racer Appreciation Dinner.

The action online will be continuing all weekend long by the great folks at www.MotorManiaTV.com sponsored Plattinum Products, Mo-Par City and Environmental Oil Recovery.
