AUDREY WORM’S TOP FUEL TEAM A TESTAMENT TO ‘WOMEN OF POWER

For decades, the NHRA has been a showcase for female racers. But new Top Fuel team owner Audrey Worm has brought a fresh twist to the “Women of Power” initiative. (RELATED ARTICLE LINK)

Worm, who began her professional drag-racing career with the Leverich family at Reading, Pa., in 2017, officially has established herself as the first female NHRA Top Fuel owner-driver since legend Shirley Muldowney.

But she announced Thursday at the SEMA Show at Las Vegas that she also will be the first to have a female crew chief and car chief, as well.

A COPO CAMARO FIT FOR 16-TIME CHAMPION JOHN FORCE

 

John Force makes a living racing a Camaro unlike any which you can see on the street. Drag racing's most successful professional drag racer has covered the length of the thousand-foot racing surface in under 3.9 seconds at well over 330 miles per hour.

On Tuesday at the SEMA Show, Force was more impressed with a Camaro capabled of covering the quarter-mile at a little under seven seconds and running half as fast.

MELANIE SALEMI HEADED RADIAL RACING

 

Melanie Salemi plans to tread where few female drivers have gone before. The established Pro Modified driver, who competes primarily in PDRA Pro Boost competition, plans to drive the Eddie Whelan owned, screw supercharger powered Radial Vs. The World 2019 Camaro at the World Street Nationals in Orlando, Fla., November 7-12, 2019.

Salemi seeks to become the first driver of her gender to qualify for a major Radial vs. The World event.

MIKE HEPP ANNOUNCES TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER PROGRAM

 

Mike Hepp Racing for Recovery Inc. announced today that Mike Hepp will unveil a Top Alcohol Dragster program for the 2020 season. Hepp will transition from his Super Comp program in the Division 1 Northeast Division.
 
The Road to Recovery team has been helping people across the county with addiction since it began in 2012. The team has now partnered with Tom Pickett and his ‘Wicked Picket’ Top Alcohol Dragster. Pickett had lengthy talks with Hepp and Glenn Moore during the 2019 season that led to this partnership.
 

TORRENCE ANNOUNCES DEAL WITH BEX SUNGLASSES

FUNNY CAR CHAOS CONCLUDES ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SEASON

 

The 2019 Funny Car Chaos season officially concluded on November 1st & 2nd at Penwell Knights Raceway in Odessa, Texas with the "Oil Field Nationals" non-points, exhibition event. With the epic Best of Texas BBQ Sauce Championship battle concluded in September, the no pressure event satisfied the final Chaos fix for fourteen drivers who made the tow to West Texas and marked the return of nitro funny cars to the 53-year-old facility located just off I-20 West of Odessa. Track owner Gary Gardenhire had taken notice of the Funny Car Chaos series throughout the 2019 season and jumped at the opportunity to squeeze this event in before the end of the season. Joined by the Dirty South Gassers, heads up shootouts, brackets and junior dragster the event had something for everyone as the pits filled on Friday afternoon for a fabulous weekend of drag racing.

BILLY TORRENCE INSPIRES FRESH BUSINESS, RACING STRATEGY – ASK BRANDON WELCH

Billy Torrence is 61 years old. Brandon Welch is 36. But Torrence is a fellow Top Fuel team owner and driver Welch can relate to, despite the fact Torrence has qualified for 47 races and so far Welch could count his passes down the racetrack in a dragster on one hand.

Both are juggling a work-race-family balance, and both have a firm grasp on financial matters with and separate from their race cars. Torrence’s expertise is in the oil-and-gas pipeline construction and maintenance business in Texas; Welch, a San Diego native, is entrenched in marketing and in the financial world of securities and real-estate investments.   

DEJORIA TO BE INDUCTED INTO NATIONAL ITALIAN-AMERICAN SPORTS HALL OF FAME

NHRA Drag Racer Alexis DeJoria is one of three inductees selected to be enshrined into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame on November 9th, 2019 in Rosemont, Ill.

DeJoria, a seven-time NHRA national event winner, will join an elite group of Italian-American athletes when she is recognized as a member of The Hall’s Class of 2019. Joining DeJoria will be NFL star Glen Carano and the late Ralph ‘Babe’ Serpico. DeJoria will also share the stage with auto racing legend Mario Andretti as he is presented with The Hall’s first Lifetime Achievement Award.
