TASCA BREAKS SOUND BARRIER IN F-15 RIDE

 

Bob Tasca III, NHRA team owner and driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Funny Car, took a different kind of speed ride Thursday at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.

Tasca goes 330 mph in 1,000 feet on race weekends, but on Thursday he broke the sound barrier in an F-15 Eagle with the United States Air Force. He and his team took the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Mustang Funny Car to Nellis to compare it to the F-15.

FIRST DAY OF NEW AUSSIE SEASON IN THE BOOKS

Qualifying for the Atlantic Oils East Coast Thunder, the first stop of the new season of the 400 Thunder Series is complete.

With temperatures hovering close to 80-degrees, the Top Fuel cars struggled to find the combination but did just fine once the sun went down, paving the way for optimum conditions.

Top Fuel team owner Dustin Davis wasn’t interested initially in talking about the situation he and his fellow Californians face right now. 

The Kincade Fire,  which started last Wednesday near Geyserville, Ca., is considered the largest in the state this year after having burned through 115 square miles on the northwestern edge of California’s premier wine region as of Monday evening. According to the Sacramento Bee newspaper, the fire has destroyed 123 structures, including 57 houses and a winery whose stone facade dates to 1869.

TERRY MCMILLEN PREPARES FOR SEASON’S FINAL TWO RACES, BRIGHT FUTURE

 

This season, if veteran Top Fuel driver/owner Terry McMillen didn’t have bad luck he wouldn’t have had any luck at all.

McMillen finished the regular season NHRA Mello Series points standings in 11th one place out of getting to compete for the Countdown to the Championship in the final six races of the season.

McMillen and his crew keep moving forward as they prepare to close out the 2019 season at the Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil in Las Vegas, Oct. 31–Nov. 3 and the Auto Club NHRA Finals, Nov. 14-17 in the team’s Amalie Motor Oil-sponsored dragster.

PSM TEAMMATES STOFFER, SAVOIE TALK MINDSET FOR FINAL TWO RACES

 

With two races left in the NHRA Mello Yello Series season, Pro Stock Motorcycle White Alligator Racing teammates – Karen Stoffer and Jerry Savoie – are right in the mix to win a world championship.

Stoffer is second in the points standings – 81 points behind leader Andrew Hines, who rides for the Harley-Davidson team, and Savoie is third in the points 94 points back.

Savoie is the owner of WAR and Tim Kulungian is the crew chief for both Suzukis.

 

WELLS MAKES HISTORY WITH MWPMS WIN AT NHRA EVENT

Fresh off wrapping up his first Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) championship, Aaron Wells followed up one week later by winning the inaugural Atomizer Racing Injectors MWPMS Invitational, held within the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals Oct. 17-20, at the famed Texas Motorplex, near Dallas.

"Honestly, that was as exciting for myself and my team as winning the season championship," Wells said. "And I don't really know that I can explain why I'd feel that way except for it's just such a unique opportunity and, you know, possibly a once-in-a-lifetime experience."

MARONEY TO DEBUT TOP FUEL CAR AT VEGAS; LANE NAMED CREW CHIEF

 

Jim Maroney and Maroney Racing of Phoenix, Ariz. will debut their new Top Fuel Dragster and team at the Dodge NHRA National presented by Pennzoil at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway October 31 – Nov 3, 2019. 

Although the team is newly formed, Maroney is no stranger to drag racing. Competing for over 26 years, Maroney had a successful career in the Western Fuel Altered series, as well as an IHRA championship as a crew chief. Later he drove Top Fuel for a limited schedule in 2018 with another team.
