Steven Densham understands how much his father loves driving the family’s fuel Funny Car. So much so, when the opportunity presented itself for the second-generation drag racer to fill the role usually reserved for Gary Densham, he hesitated to accept.
“I’m more nervous about the fact that I might do something wrong and hurt his race car than anything else,” Steven admitted.

Larry “Spiderman” McBride crushed the competition Sunday at Rockingham Dragway, stopping the quarter-mile timers in a best-in-history 5.607 seconds at a jaw-dropping finish line speed of 263.10 miles per hour to win the Top Fuel title for the fourth time in five years in the track’s annual Man Cup Motorcycle Series event.
After tuning up with a qualifying time of 5.620 at an even 263 mph, the veteran from Newport News, Va., unloaded on defending race champion and erstwhile point leader David Vantine of Hamilton, N.Y., in the final round to move back to the top of the rider standings in his bid for an unprecedented 20th series title.

The return of two-time Top Fuel champ Phil Lamattina was the highlight of pre-season testing at Sydney Dragway last weekend ahead of the opening round of the 400 Thunder season, November 1-2.
Lamattina last raced at Willowbank Raceway in June 2015 where his storied career was cut short after a massive crash that left the team owner-driver with significant back and spinal injuries.

On October 3rd, 2019 the racing community lost another great legend. Norman “Norm” Drazy passed away at 72 while in hospice care in his hometown of Tempe, Arizona following a battle with cancer.
Norm and his former wife Pat, designed and manufactured the PSI Screw Supercharger that revolutionized the racing industry back in the late 80s.
