Thermo-Tec has appointed Brian “BP” Prior to its team in the role of director of sales and marketing.

Oklahoma City's Aaron Wells outlasted a stout Pro Mod field Aug. 3, at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, taking home his second Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) win of the year and tightening his grip on the season points lead.

Also picking up MWPMS event trophies at the historic drag strip near St. Louis were Dan Phelps in Race Star Wheels Top Dragster, Bob Gulitti in Top Sportsman, Alan Felts in X275 Drag Radial, and Jon Stouffer in the unique MWPMS Slammers class for Pro Mod non-qualifiers and first-round runners up.

The 2nd annual American Jr. Dragster Challenge presented by Capco Contractors wrapped up Saturday with winners in four categories crowned after a grueling day of eliminations.  The Texas Motorplex, home of the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals in October, once again played host to the event which benefitted Children’s Health hospital in Dallas. During the race Texas Motorplex general manager Andy Carter along with sales director Terry Smith presented Kyra Barnett from Children’s Health a check for $1,500 and a commemorative event racing helmet.

Matt Hagan, who at 6-1, 225 pounds of solid muscle, admits he’s not intimidated by anyone who slides between the frame rails of a race car. There’s a first time for everything,however. Just ask Hagan.

Hagan could only look in astonishment as a former professional wrestler shoehorned himself into the cockpit of his race car earlier this week outside of Detroit for Roadkill Nights. There was no room to spare in Hagan’s driver’s compartment.

Hagan is a big man, but he’s no Bill Goldberg, who stands six-foot-four-inches tall and weighs in at 266 pounds.

Sean Bellemeur is the reigning Top Alcohol Funny Car champion. But, as a young kid, he drove Jr. Dragsters, before going on to compete in a Nostalgia Dragster.

He said he has been around Top Alcohol Funny Cars nearly his entire life.

Donald Long, drag radial promoter and owner of Duck X Productions, is outrageous, sometimes profane, but always incredibly shrewd. And his generic challenge to the NHRA Funny Car class has landed him a customer.

Two-time Funny Car champion Cruz Pedregon, can, when he wants to, grit his teeth and toss out “Drop dead” vibes with the best of the sport’s hard-nosed mavericks.

So the $50,000-to-win match-up that’s tentatively slated for March 2020 is between Pedregon in his Snap-on Dodge Charger Funny Car and Marcus “The Axeman” Birt in his Radial Vs. The World entry that is believed to be the first nitrous-aided car on drag radial tires to dip into the five-second range in quarter-mile elapsed time.  Birt’s car is a Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built C7 Corvette with Pat Musi Racing Engines power.

The flames and fireworks were flying just as fast as the cars at the 42nd Annual Kelly Night Under Fire, Aug. 10, 2019 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
 
The production presented to a packed house also featured several surprises.

Mendy Fry and Jeff Arend drove to victories this weekend past at the 48th Pepsi Nightfire Nationals at Firebird Raceway located outside of Boise, Idaho.

Fry took home the title, successfully defending her 2018 event title, running a 5.62 elapsed time at 254 miles per hour to defeat Adam Sorokin.

Scott Oksas started his Pro Mod career 10 years ago with the hopes of putting together a competitive program.
 
A decade later, he now has a win for the ages.
 
The Los Angeles-area native benefitted from some first-round luck against Stevie “Fast” Jackson and then rode a string of three straight incredible runs in his turbocharged RJ Race Cars Ford Shelby Mustang. That included a event-winning blast of 5.882-seconds at 247.38 mph in the final round against Doug Winters to claim victory at the third annual Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefiting One Cure at Bandimere Speedway.
