COUGHLIN FAMILY DELIVERS STRONG PERFORMANCE AT BURNDOWN EVENT

Mike Coughlin remains unbeaten in his JEGS.com Top Dragster ever since changing to a Fowler F12 roots-style supercharger, winning Sunday's Burndown at Sundown Division 3 race at Route 66 Raceway. It was Coughlin's second win in as many weekends and the first time he's ever won two races in a row.

2019-2020 AUSTRALIAN DRAG CALENDAR RELEASED

 

400 Thunder have released their 2019-2020 calendar that will feature a six-round season commencing with Atlantic Oils East Coast Thunder meeting at Sydney Dragway in November and concluding with the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals, Willowbank Raceway in June.

CARMEN ELECTRA NAMED GRAND MARSHAL FOR NHRA MILE HIGH NATS

Carmen Electra, spokesperson for Cattleman’s Cut Beef Jerky, will be attending the upcoming Dodge NHRA Mile High Nationals presented by Pennzoil at Bandimere Speedway as the Grand Marshall.  The model, actress, and entertainer will be a part of Opening Ceremonies for one of the NHRA’s most popular races.  Carmen will be spending time with fans at the event, helping kick off Sunday racing eliminations, and will visit the Fox Sports broadcast booth.

GREG CARRILLO TO MAKE TOP FUEL SEASON DEBUT AT MILE-HIGH NATIONALS

 

Greg Carrillo, who has raced part-time in the Top Fuel ranks in NHRA’s Mello Yello Series the last couple of years, is making his 2019 season debut at the Mile-High Nationals July 19-21, and he is plenty excited.

“We have a brand-new MLR car and we have our same crew in place, we still have Glenn Mikres and we just added Aaron Brooks,” Carrillo said. “Aaron Brooks in the designer of this car. The effort was to reduce weight of the car. There was nothing wrong with the old car it was just a little heavy. Basically, I added two bars in the cockpit area on my own and I got them approved by the NHRA in case you get upside down on the guardrail it slides up the guardrail instead of tearing your head. What it is, is a bar that moves from the cockpit, from the roll cage forward on both sides at an angle, so if you get upside down it just slides up that rail in the top of the roll cage instead of tearing your head off.”

RACING FAN, FRIEND TO MANY BOB KUHAR PASSES AWAY

 

The drag racing community lost a passionate fan and friend to many when Bob Kuhar passed away July 8. Kuhar, who was living near Phoenix, Ariz., was 47.

Kuhar was best known for being part of the Drink Hard Racing group of Dr. Donny Fuqua, his cousin, Ron Capps and Tommy DeLago.

Kuhar was the primary designer of Drink Hard T-Shirts, hats and apparel. Kuhar was also known as Phoenix Bob, Too Far Kuhar, Bobby Delgado, and DHR Bob.

PRO OUTLAW 632 SHOOTOUT COMING TO PDRA DRAGWAY 42

 
Racers in the Professional Drag Racers Association’s Schwing America Pro Outlaw 632 class will have the chance to race for big money without the pressure of a points race at the upcoming PDRA Northern Nationals presented by Callies Performance, July 18-20 at Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio. The Pro Outlaw 632 Shootout presented by $hameless Racing will pay $7,500 to the winner, marking the largest purse in class history. 

HANEY HOPES TO USE HEAT TO HIS ADVANTAGE

 

Two months after climbing the points list in the most recent Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) event at his home track in Tulsa, OK, nitrous racing veteran Keith Haney is feeling more than ready to go again this weekend (July 12-13), at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, TX.

"I won't lie, it's been nice to have a few weeks to relax and regroup, but I think I speak for every Mid-West Series racer when I say I'm itchin' to get back in the seat. We had a pretty good race in Tulsa, went a couple of rounds and that moved us up one spot to fourth overall, but I think we have a good shot at doing even better this weekend," Haney says.

AUSSIE 400 THUNDER SCHEDULE AND BROADCAST ANNOUNCED

 

Drag racing fans can look forward to an exciting year ahead after the 400 Thunder Professional Series calendar for the 2019-2020 season was revealed by Australian Professional Drag Racing today.

The Series will be contested over six events shared between Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway. The opening round will occur at the Atlantic Oils East Coast Thunder in Sydney on November 1-2 with of all six Professional Australian Championship categories competing under the traditional eliminator format sure to launch gripping, season-long championship battles.
