$100K PAYDAY BRINGS OKSAS TO WSOPM

 

Scott Oksas got his first taste of the DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod a year ago.

It’s not hard to figure out what is making him return to Bandimere Speedway on Aug. 9-10 for the third annual World Series of Pro Mod presented by J&A Service, Elite Motorsports, Big O Tires and benefitting One Cure.

“The $100,000 brings me back, buddy,” Oksas said. “Do you want to race for $10,000 or $100,000? The $100,000 brings you back.”

BOBBY BODE CONTINUES HIS DRAG RACING PROGRESSION

 

Don’t be surprised to see Bobby Bode driving his father, Bob’s nitro Funny Car, in NHRA Mello Yello Series in 2020.

That’s the career path Bobby is traveling.

“We went last month to Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School (in Gainesville, Fla.) and we got halfway through it, and it got rained out,” Bob said. “We are going back in September to finish it up. We also went last year, and he now has nine passes in Hawley’s Alcohol Funny Car, and we are going back in September, and we will have him make six more passes and hopefully, he will finish up things then.”

Pro Stock driver Shane Tucker will not be competing during the historic three-race western swing due to business commitments with this Dallas-based company, Auzmet Architectural. It was a tough decision for the young racer who was chasing a spot in the NHRA Countdown and his dream of an NHRA Mello Yello Pro Stock world championship behind the wheel of his Auzmet Architectural/StructGlass Chevrolet Camaro.

MWPMS BACK IN ACTION AT XTREME RACEWAY PARK

 

After a two-month break, the 2019 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) will resume July 12-13, with its inaugural appearance at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, TX, just south of Dallas.

"We were actually scheduled to open our season last year at the brand-new Xtreme Raceway Park before unavoidable construction delays got in the way," MWPMS owner and promoter Keith Haney explained.

Top Fuel star Steve Torrence’s domination in the NHRA’s Mello Series continued Sunday at the New England Nationals.

The reigning world champion appeared in his eighth final round in a row and won for the seventh time.

NHRA Funny Car racer Shawn Langdon expressed his dissatisfaction with what he felt was a subpar show for the fans at the NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, NH.

Langdon tweeted, “Maybe if @NHRA “thinks” 65/35 spray is good on a 135+ degree racetrack, they should refund the fans for a poor show #Q1fail #everyonewassmokingthetires”
