KALITTA TO RUN APPLIED IMAGING DRAGSTER IN NORWALK

 

Heading into the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, June 21-23,  Doug Kalitta will be campaigning a new look Top Fuel dragster adorned in the logo of new Team Kalitta business partner Applied Imaging. The award-winning Michigan based company focuses on managed print and network services as well as hardware and software solutions for companies across the Midwest. 

During the U.S. Nationals last year, Team Kalitta hosted Applied Imaging at a business-to-business function and began an ongoing marketing partnership discussion. The opportunity to formally introduce Applied Imaging to the NHRA presented itself with the upcoming race in Norwalk, Ohio since Applied Imaging has a significant presence in Michigan and is expanding into northern Ohio.

1995 MMPS CHAMPION MIKE BELL EXCITED ABOUT NEW OPPORTUNITY

Evidently feeling like the guy who saw all the other kids having way too much fun without him, longtime racer Roy Hill announced last weekend at Bristol that he is inviting himself to the party next year.

Hill said that he plans to field a two-car Mountain Motor Pro Stock team in 2020 with Vincent Nobile and Mike Bell, a racer with whom Hill has a long relationship.

RAIN FORCES NHRA TO REMOVE SOME SPORTSMAN CATEGORIES FROM NORWALK EVENT

 

A deluge of rain has forced NHRA officials to drop some of its sportsman divisions from the next scheduled event on the Mello Yello Series tour at Norwalk, Ohio, June 21-23.

NHRA WESTERN CONFERENCE JR DRAG FINALS COMING TO TOPEKA

 

Osage Tulsa Raceway Park will host the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals presented by CatSpot June 23-28. NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League racers from across the United States, ages 6 to 17 years, will compete for team and individual honors and a share of the event purse.

Gerda Joon has a favorite photo. It was taken from Joliet, Ill.’s Route 66 Raceway tower, a tight shot looking down onto the dragstrip. Husband Lex Joon was sitting in his Top Fuel car, and she was standing beside the cockpit.

“I love this picture. I don’t care how many people were there. I don’t care how noisy it was,” she said. “It’s just him and me.”

HOERNER WINS MMPS IN BRISTOL

 

After finishing runner-up at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Concorde, NC, Todd Hoerner sealed the deal at the next race. Hoerner, driving the TT Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by Sonny’s Racing Engines, beat Frank Gugliotta in the final round of the Mountain Motor Pro Stock division in Bristol, Tenn.

BRISTOL WINNER MIKE SALINAS: NO RIVALRY WITH STEVE TORRENCE

To those who want to build up a rivalry between Top Fuel champion Steve Torrence and up-and-coming driver Mike Salinas, take a seat.

Salinas beat Torrence in the final of the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals on Sunday at Bristol Dragway, ending Torrence's five-race winning streak. And Salinas became the second Top Fuel driver to win more than one race this season.

AFTER WINNING BRISTOL, BOB TASCA SAYS THE BEST IS YET TO COME

Bob Tasca III won for the first time since 2012, but boldly predicted he's a contender for the Funny Car championship this year.

Tasca took out Jim Campbell, Robert Hight, Ron Capps and John Force to win the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals on Sunday at Bristol Dragway, earning his first victory in the class since Dallas in 2012. Tasca also returned Ford to the winner's circle for the first time since 2016, and he lauded their return to NHRA.

A YEAR AFTER LOSING IN FINALS AT BRISTOL, TASCA AND SALINAS BOTH CLAIM WINS AT THUNDER VALLEY

Bob Tasca III powered to his first Funny Car win in nearly seven years, knocking off John Force in the final round on Sunday at the 19th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

Mike Salinas also picked up the victory in Top Fuel at the 11th of 24 events during the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. Both Salinas and Tasca advanced to the final round in Bristol a year ago before falling, but it was a different story for each driver in 2019.
