BECKMAN'S NEXT CHAPTER? HE'S WONDERING TOO

 

There’s no question that Jack Beckman knows exactly what to do in any type of drag racing vehicle.

After all, he’s taught more than 7,000 students how to drive dragsters, roadsters, funny cars and doorslammers as an instructor at Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School. He’s won NHRA world championships in Super Comp (2003) and Funny Car (2012), and he’s got a combined 30 national-event victories in those two categories.

For the first time since legend Shirley Muldowney’s career, the NHRA will have a female Top Fuel owner-driver.

With a financial boost from Strutmasters.com boss Chip Lofton, Audrey Worm will pull into Bristol Dragway this week as owner of her own dragster team.

T0TAL SEAL PISTON RINGS COMPANY SOLD

Total Seal Piston Rings, the undisputed leader in high performance ring design founded by Joe Moriarty over 50 years ago, has been sold to an investment group led by Promus Equity Partners, Jon S. Vesely and Total Seal President Matt Hartford.

The sale was finalized June 7th, 2019, and released in a joint statement by Joey Moriarty, son of founder Joe Moriarty, Promus Equity Partners, Jon S. Vesely and Matt Hartford.

 

E3 SPARK PLUGS EXTENDS MULTI-YEAR SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT

E3 Spark Plugs recently extended its partnership with NHRA as the Official Spark Plug and Official Ignition Products of NHRA.

E3 Spark Plugs has been involved with NHRA racing across all platforms including the sponsorship of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service. E3-powered cars have won over 150 NHRA national events and eight national championships in the past three years.

WAYNE NEWBY MAKES AUSTRALIAN TOP FUEL HISTORY AT WILLOWBANK

 

Rapisarda Autosport International pair Wayne Newby and Santino Rapisarda etched their names in the history books when they became the first driver/tuner combination to become two-time 400 Thunder champions after defeating Kelly Bettes in the final round of the 2018-19 season at the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals, June, 9.

Persistent rain over the two days of qualifying for the Pro categories reduced qualifying to a single round and for several of the leading lights in Pro Alcohol and Pro Stock it had a massive impact of their championship aspirations.

SECOND-GEN PLUCHINO PREPARING FOR NHRA MMPS DEBUT

 

After Johnny Pluchino unexpectedly made his PDRA Extreme Pro Stock debut at the recent PDRA North-South Shootout in Maryland, the second-generation wheelman is eager to make his quarter-mile debut in the Mountain Motor Pro Stock exhibition at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, June 14-16 at Bristol Dragway.

Thank goodness for the full pull. A strong run for Pro Stock veteran turned Pro Modified racer Erica Enders is what prevented her from being a fifth driver to crash during one of the most destruction elimination rounds in Pro Modified history at the NHRA Heartland Nationals.

Jeremy Ray of Lugoff, South Carolina, lost control of his ’63 Corvette and skidded before rolling into the guard wall. Ray exited the car under his own power and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

 

HIGHT COLLECTS 49TH WIN, TIES ‘THE SNAKE’ AT HEARTLAND NATIONALS

Just two short decades ago during the summer of 1995, a young man by the name of Robert Hight traveled to what is now known as Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas and went to work as a clutch specialist for John Force Racing.

In 2005, Hight returned to Topeka to earn his license in the Funny Car class

TORRENCE WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT IN TOPEKA FATHER, SON FINAL

Father’s Day may still be a week away, but the Torrence family was able to celebrate a few days early.

Steve Torrence, who has done just about everything there is to do in the sport, checked another box off his list of firsts when he met his father, part-timer Billy Torrence, in Sunday’s Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties. It was the first time the father-and-son duo have met in an NHRA final as the younger Torrence continued his hot streak with his fifth straight win Sunday at Heartland Motorsports Park.
