MUSI HOPES NO-PREP SUCCESS TRANSLATES INTO PRO NITROUS WIN

 

It was a historic weekend for Lizzy Musi at New England Dragway, and now the Musi Racing team will look to build on that momentum at this weekend’s Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA) North-South Shootout at Maryland International Raceway.

Plymouth introduced its Duster two-door coupe in 1970, as the successor to the successful Valiant line. The Duster was built on the Valiant platform and shared the same front end sheet metal, but featured a different design from the cowl back.

PAUL LEE SET TO MAKE SECOND 2019 NHRA SHOWING

 

 

Paul Lee, driver of the McLeod Funny Car, will make his second appearance on the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour this weekend.

Lee, whose privately-owned Funny Car races under the Straightline Strategy Group banner, has one quarterfinal finish to his credit thus far in 2019.

BO BUTNER TO RACE SUPER COMP IN CHICAGO

 

Pro Stock points leader Bo Butner has four wins in the first five events, and in the Sportsman ranks, the driver of the Summit Racing Cobra Jet Mustang has reached the final in each of the most recent two SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown races. Why not try something completely different in the middle of an already successful season, right? 

This weekend, Butner will be behind the wheel of his steady Jim Butner Auto Group Chevrolet Camaro in Pro Stock, and he'll also be racing alongside his Sportsman friends in Super Comp. Butner has never raced Super Comp at the national event level, but he'll be targeting 8.90 at the Route 66 NHRA Nationals. 

STUCK AT 149, FORCE SEEKS A 150 WIN BREAKTHROUGH

 

There was a time when even Superman couldn’t stop John Force from winning. That’s because Force was Superman.

Force, the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion, is still super these days, and despite rolling over the 70-year-old odometer, he’s still competing with a torrid pace. However, for the seasoned veteran Force, his win-total has been stuck on 149 since beating Ron Capps in Denver last season.

RICHARD FREEMAN RETURNS TO PS WITH NEW MUSTANG

 

Richard Freeman isn't one to mince words and didn't start when it came to describing his first runs behind the wheel of his new Pro Stock Mustang.

"Well, the first three runs weren't worth a f***," Freeman said without hesitation.

AREND EXCITED ABOUT FILLING IN FOR LINDBERG AT CHICAGO

 

Over the last several years, nitro Funny Car driver Jeff Arend has found a niche competing on a limited schedule in the NHRA Mello Yello Series – and he also has served as a fill-in driver.

Arend’s next assignment will be substituting in for Jonnie Lindberg, the primary driver for Jim Head, at the Route 66 Nationals May 30-June 2 in Chicago. Lindberg is missing the event to return to his native Sweden as he pursues U.S. citizenship.

During the 2nd annual Virginia NHRA Nationals Terry McMillen Racing hosted YouTube star Stephen Sharer, introducing the social media personality to the sights and sounds of NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing. McMillen, driver of the AMALIE® Motor Oil XTERMIGATOR®, became familiar with Sharer through his son Cam’s interest in the Sharer’s wildly popular family-friendly videos online. 

CAR CHIX GRUDGE MATCH RACE COMING TO NHRA ROUTE 66 NATIONALS

 

Car Chix, the premier motorsports organization for women will debut ‘Car Chix Grudge Match’ during the NHRA Route 66 Nationals at Route 66 Raceway May 31st and June 1st.  The ‘Car Chix Grudge Match’ will feature Georgina Buckley and Lea Ochs racing head-to-head in a best two out of three competition. Car Chix will also be sharing the stage with drag racing legend Shirley Muldowney, the Honorary Grand Marshall of the NHRA Route 66 Nationals.
