SNEAK PEEK - KHALID ALBALOOSHI'S NEW TURBO CAR

SCHUMACHER KEEPING BUSY WITH FOXSPORTS TV ROLE

Eight-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Tony Schumacher isn't ready to close the chapter of his life story where he races at the highest level for championships. However, he's not opposed to seeing what the future can hold.

Schumacher, sidelined for the foreseeable future as Don Schumacher Racing hunts for a major sponsor, doesn't mind looking ahead at the other options.

Last weekend at zMax Dragway, Schumacher was wired up as part of the FoxSports television crew as a pit reporter for the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide broadcast.

MATTER AND NISSEN CONQUER CHAOS AT MO-KAN

The second stop on the 2019 Best of Texas BBQ Sauce Funny Car Chaos Championship tour presented by Red Line Shirt Club brought the series back through the gates of historic Mo-Kan Dragway in Asbury, Missouri on April 26-27th. This event was presented by the new Decades of Wheels museum in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

Opening in 1962, Mo-Kan Dragway's grassroots old school charisma sets the perfect stage for the Chaos series. With two days of sunshine and temps in the high 70s, the racers and fans of Funny Car Chaos finally got a break from mother nature and with that, the eager fans jam-packed the facility ready for action provided by the twenty two Funny Cars on the property. Precious championship points and a $25,000+ payout were up for grabs in the biggest Funny Car race in the four states area ever.

FULL HOUSE FOR TOP FUEL AT SYDNEY NITRO THUNDER MEETING

Series leaders Kelly Bettes and Rapisarda Autosport International pair Wayne Newby and Ashley Sanford will share top billing at the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Thunder meeting May 3-4 that will also feature the biggest Top Fuel car count of the season.

ENDERS SETTLING INTO ROLE AS QUEEN OF SPEED

If Erica Enders, the two-time NHRA Pro Stock champion, was looking for her niche in Pro Modified, it's become painfully evident to the competition where her strength is.

Enders is certifiably the volatile doorslammer division's new Queen of Speed. Two races, two world records, point made.

“I’m excited and this is something we can build on,” said Enders, who is now ninth in points. “We’re still learning and trying to get the car to go as fast we can down the track. It’s been a learning curve, but to race in the finals and see the progress we’ve made, we’re all pretty happy about it. The car continues to goes A to B and make strong passes, and that’s the big thing.”

SOON TO BE 70, FORCE'S TRUE GRIT SHINES THROUGH

NHRA drag racing icon John Force shakes his head at the reality he's the only Funny Car driver in competition today born during the Harry Truman administration. He just takes the good-natured ribbing in stride as he strolls through the NHRA pits smiling, signing autographs and posing for photos with fans.

You see, Force is a lot like Truman in that he's been giving the competition hell for going on three decades now.

LANGDON DEDICATES FIRST CAREER FUNNY CAR VICTORY TO RECUPERATING DAD

This one's for you, dad.

With his dad recovering from a liver transplant not that far from zMAX Dragway, Shawn Langdon put his Toyota Funny Car in the winner's circle Sunday for the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA 4-Wide Nationals.

TORRENCE BREAKS INTO TOP FUEL WIN COLUMN WITH THREE-PEAT AT CHARLOTTE

Reigning Top Fuel champion Steve Torrence’s performance Sunday at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals was as simple as 1-2-3-4:

SUNDAY'S TREE ISSUE LEFT SEASONED VETERANS BAFFLED

Hector Arana Sr. has seen a lot in his 29 years of racing Pro Stock Motorcycles in NHRA. But he's never seen anything like this.

Or, rather, it's what he didn't see Sunday at zMAX Dragway.

HINES RECORDS 50TH PRO STOCK BIKE TRIUMPH IN FOUR-WIDE FASHION

This weekend’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event was called the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, and the plan is to trim eliminations to three rounds.

But because a staging bulb failed to light in Hector Arana Sr.’s lane during the semifinals and officials permitted a “do-over,” Andrew Hines had to make four passes to claim his class-record-extending 50th victory Sunday at zMAX Dragway.
