NITROUS CAR COUNTS DWINDLING IN NHRA PRO MOD

 

The NHRA Pro Modified series is losing another nitrous entry. 

Team owner Rickie Smith, who manages the program for longtime nitrous racer Khalid alBalooshi, confirmed the successful driver plans to make the transition to a turbocharged entry following this weekend's NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway. 

SALINAS REWARDS CREW WITH BRAND NEW HARLEYS

Before he secured his first national event championship at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas, Salinas, of San Jose, Ca., had never won a race of any kind.

Sunday, at the NGK NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, Salinas ensured that his crew scored their second win in as many races. The victory came during the event's pre-race festivities.

MASSEY RETURNS TO TOP FUEL, FOR NOW

 

Yes, that WAS Spencer Massey driving a Top Fuel car at zMAX Dragway this weekend. And, yes, it was THAT Spencer Massey, the one who has 18 national-event victories in his career.

Massey returned after a nearly four-year absence from Top Fuel, driving for Pat Dakin. It's a one-off race at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, Massey said, as he's just keeping his Top Fuel license active.  After this weekend, he'll return to what he loves, bracket racing. 

DIXON SUES NHRA FOR ALLEGED BLACKLISTING, WRONGFUL SUSPENSION

 

Larry Dixon has called the NHRA into account for its decision not to declare publicly the results of his suspension appeal and not to conduct its dispute with him regarding his two-seat exhibition dragster according to its rulebook.

LANGDON GETS FIRST FUNNY CAR VICTORY AT CHARLOTTE FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

Shawn Langdon picked up his first Funny Car win at the 10th annual NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals to become only the second driver in history to win in both the Top Fuel and Funny Car categories at zMAX Dragway. He is the 17th driver in NHRA history to secure victories in both categories.

Steve Torrence (Top Fuel) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were also victors in their respective NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series categories.

JANIS WINS PRO MOD TITLE AT NGK SPARK PLUGS NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

Mike Janis, the reigning world champion in the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service, nabbed his first victory of the season Sunday at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals where the series was presented by SMP Racing.

Janis landed in the winner’s circle at zMAX Dragway with his run of 5.799-seconds at 248.52 mph. He got the final win light of the day facing a fierce quadrant of Erica Enders, Rickie Smith and Steve Jackson. Smith came in second in this highly competitive category.

CHRIS POWERS RUNS THE TABLE TO TAKE MMPS WIN AT CHARLOTTE FOUR-WIDE

Chris Powers raced to victory in the inaugural appearance of Mountain Motor Pro Stock at the Four-Wide Nationals on Sunday at zMAX Dragway.

Powers qualified No. 1 and raced through two quads before beating Todd Hoerner and Steven Boone (Dwayne Rice was a no-show) in the final round.
