Being the best in NHRA’s nitro Funny Car class is nothing new for John Force.

After all, he has won a class-record 16 world championships.

Mountain Motor Pro Stock racer Chris Powers understands the importance of making a good first impression. That's why, in his NHRA national event debut, the large displacement factory hot rod driver from Carlisle, Pa., wasted little time in establishing his superiority at the NHRA Springnationals, the first of five events scheduled for these exhibition vehicles. 

For the first time in NHRA history, a father and daughter will start race day at the top of both nitro categories for the 32nd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil at Houston Raceway powered by Pennzoil. That duo is none other than 16-time Funny Car champion John Force and the 2017 Top Fuel champion, Brittany Force.

The J. Force and B. Force combo are the first father and child pair to ever qualify No. 1 together at an NHRA event. J. Force’s No. 1 earned him his 156th career top spot while B. Force picked up her 12th.

College student Cesar Gonzales said he thought he “had a pretty good understanding of what it was going to take to have a career,” thanks to the Mopar Career Automotive Program (CAP).
 
Then he attended Friday’s opening day of the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park – and now he has an even better idea.
 

Brittany Force, the 2017 Top Fuel world champion, arrived in Houston looking to continue her momentum.

She did exactly that in qualifying for the 32nd annual Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil.

John Force is a legend in NHRA’s nitro Funny Car ranks.

And, the legend isn’t ready to go away.
