BREAKING NEWS - TAD STANDOUT JUSTIN ASHLEY HEADED TO TOP FUEL IN 2020

 

Justin Ashley has a clear vision for his drag racing future. At just 24 years old, he's got 20/20 vision for 2020, and a graduation to the biggest stage major league drag racing has to offer, Top Fuel eliminator on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

Justin Ashley Racing announced today it has joined forces with Davis Motorsports to field a Top Fuel Dragster at a minimum of 12 NHRA events in 2020 with the second-generation driver behind the wheel. The team plans to begin testing later this Spring.

DON SCHUMACHER INDUCTED INTO MOTORSPORTS HALL OF FAME OF AMERICA

NHRA team owner and Funny Car pioneer Don Schumacher was one of seven inductees enshrined into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America Tuesday evening in Daytona Beach, Fla.
 
Schumacher, owner of drag racing powerhouse Don Schumacher Racing (DSR), was recognized alongside his fellow members of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America’s class of 2019 as they took their place in history among the greatest, most recognized names in motorsports. Joining Schumacher in the 2019 class were Augie Duesenberg, Dario Franchitti, Phil Remington, Kevin Schwantz, Tony Stewart and Linda Vaughn.

ROGER BROGDON HAVING $5,000 DRAWING FOR PRO STOCK FANS AT GATORNATIONALS

 

Fans attending the 50th running of the Gatornationals March 14-17 at Gainesville, Fla., who love NHRA’s Pro Stock class, have a chance to cash in this weekend, thanks to Rodger Brogdon.

Brogdon, who is driving a Chevy Camaro for Elite Motorsports this season, is giving one lucky Pro Stock fan a chance to win $5,000.

To be eligible for the contest and the $5,000 drawing, presented by Rodger Brogdon Racing and RBR Machine, fans must purchase the official 50th anniversary Gatornationals T-shirt. Then, head to the Pro Stock pits and collect as many autographs and pictures as possible. Create a Facebook post with picture of the official shirt signed by at least 8 Pro Stock drivers and pictures of with or of your favorite Pro Stock drivers.

RYAN OEHLER HAS NEW APPROACH, SAME LOFTY GOALS

 

Second-year Pro Stock Motorcycle rider “Flyin’ Ryan” Oehler will challenge for the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series championship a slimmed down attack and complete with new marketing partners.

The team’s new chassis dyno is up and running, and the S&S powered EBR has shed 7 pounds over the winter.

“That’s a chunk,” said Oehler, who’s also lost weight via the “Steve Johnson Diet”—lots of broccoli.

TAD STANDOUT JUSTIN ASHLEY HAS GREAT GATORS MEMORIES

 

In his first season as an A/Fuel driver, at his very first race the Gatornationals, Justin Ashley brought home the Wally. But that was then as a driver for Randy Meyer and this is now.
 
After an active offseason, his first as a team owner Ashley feels confident that his team is ready to compete to win at this weekend’s 50th Annual running of the Gatornationals. During the off-season, the second-generation drag racer brought in Tony Samsel to crew chief alongside Anthony Dicero a combination he feels can put the 1800CASHOUT A/FUEL dragster in the winner’s circle. 
 

HOERNER PLANS RETURN TO MOUNTAIN MOTOR PRO STOCKER

Longtime mountain motor Pro Stock racer Todd Hoerner announced his plans to return to competition today, climbing behind the wheel of Tommy & Paula Zarella's Jerry Bickel-built Chevrolet Camaro.

Hoerner, a driving force behind the Sonny's Racing Engines brand, will run Sonny Leonard horsepower at PDRA Extreme Pro Stock and in at least two of the special NHRA exhibitions.

TAYLOR HEADLINES MWPMS SEASON-OPENER WINNERS

 


The Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) kicked off the season in stellar fashion over the weekend. The event was highlighted by Pro Mod Icon Frankie “MadMan” Taylor taking the victory over the “Young Gun” Justin Jones.

Taylor faced a murderer's row of competition to reach the winner's circle by stopping Travis Brandt, Eddie Rogers, No. 1qualifier Aaron Wells before stopping Jones.

Taylor scored the victory with a 3.709 elapsed time at 202.55 miles per hour to repel Jones' 4.297 at only 140.09.

WHAT THE WHEEL? A FERRIS WHEEL AT THE STRIP?

 

Wheels we are accustomed to at a drag strip, but a Ferris wheel, this takes drag racing entertainment to a whole new level.

"Not sure if we are the first to have a Ferris Wheel at a drag strip, but we hope so, we like being the first when it comes to thinking outside of the box in entertainment features," said Blake Bowser, General Manager of Auto Club Famoso Raceway.

DAY SNAGS ANOTHER STARTING LINE VICTIM EN ROUTE TO BAKERSFIELD AA/FA TITLE

 

He's no Rickie Smith, but for James Day he doesn't need to be when it comes to slaying the giants in nitro racing.

Sunday in Bakersfield, Day put on a clinic of how to parlay the underdog role into a trip to the winner's circle. He used a well-crafted routine of starting line prowess to chalk up another win at the Good Vibrations March Meet behind the wheel of the Hertzig Motorsports AA/Fuel Altered entry. This time Dan Hix, a multi-time winner was his victim.

SOROKIN WINS IMPROBABLE MARCH MEET TITLE

 

On paper, Adam Sorokin didn't stand much of a chance in the Nostalgia Top Fuel final.

The second-generation AA/Fuel Dragster driver had held his own, qualifying fourth in a field paced by Rick White's 5.74. However, once Sunday's final eliminations began Mendy Fry became the new and seemingly unattainable benchmark with a 5.518 and a 5.490 to reach the finals.

Well, Sorokin had a 5.83.
