JASON RUPERT'S AA/FC AT MARCH MEET WITH A DIFFERENT DRIVER

 

Jason Rupert, a multi-time champion behind the wheel of a nostalgia fuel Funny Car has been in drag racing long enough to understand when it's time to close one chapter and open another.

Rupert believes the time is right to be done racing an AA/FC, and set his sights on racing the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. As a result, Rupert plans to be in an advisory role as a new driver takes over as the driver of his nitro-burning 1969 Camaro flopper.

RON CAPPS TO DRIVE AA/FUEL ALTERED AT MARCH MEET

 

There’s very little Ron Capps hasn’t done in his decorated drag racing career.

The 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Series nitro Funny Car world champion will check a new box this weekend.

Capps, for the first time, will be racing AA Fuel Altered and he will be competing at the prestigious March Meet at Auto Club Famosa Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif.

BYNUM CRASHES AA/FC DURING PRE-MARCH MEET TEST SESSION

 

The result of Thursday’s testing run for Nostalgia Funny Car racer Matt Bynum wasn’t the start to his NHRA Heritage Series campaign he’d envisioned. 

Bynum, who was scheduled to compete in this weekend’s Bakersfield March Meet at Auto Club Famoso, will instead be a spectator following a crash on his first run of the season behind the wheel of the Matthews Motorsports “Nitro Nick” Camaro AA/FC.

In a salute to the landmark 50th running of the historic Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals, Team JEGS drivers Mike Coughlin, Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Troy Coughlin Jr will display special "Throwback" paint schemes selected from some of the top racecars family patriarch Jeg Coughlin Sr. campaigned during his career.
 
Mike Coughlin has transformed his Top Dragster into a replica of his father's dominant Top Fuel Dragster that collected three North Central Division championships in 1977, 1978 and 1980 and set a personal-best elapsed time of 5.78 seconds.

After months of planning and great anticipation, the Texas Motorplex received their first delivery of new track equipment just in time for the 2019 season, the Texas Motorplex FireAde Safety Response Vehicle. The custom built vehicle, provided by Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet and sponsored by FireAde- the trusted product of choice for Race Safety Teams in all motorsports from NHRA, NASCAR and beyond, is completely furnished with all new equipment, including a battery operated hydraulic cutter and spreader, better known as the ‘jaws-of-life,’ saws, tools, and all rescue equipment needed in case of an on track incident.
