SHANE TUCKER TO SKIP PHOENIX; FOCUS ON GAINESVILLE SUCCESS

Australian Pro Stock driver Shane Tucker will not be competing this weekend at the Magic Dry Organic Absorbent NHRA Arizona Nationals in Phoenix due to a delay in the delivery of some badly-needed back-up parts for his Auzmet Architectural/StructGlass Chevrolet Camaro.

“We found an issue that was hurting the motor,” Tucker said. “We ordered the necessary parts but just ran out of time before the race at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. We intended to make the race as early as yesterday but rather than head West and maybe be competitive we decided to regroup and put our best foot forward at the 50thannual Gatornationals in a few weeks. We plan on doing some testing before then to make sure we are squared away.”

HANEY WILL SIT OUT SWEET 16, LEAVES LO-10 WITH MIXED FEELINGS

Usually, a pre-race grudge match victory, followed by a solid qualifying run in the quickest Radials vs. the World (RvW) field ever assembled and a first-round win would add up to at least a satisfying outing for Keith Haney. However, the veteran drag racer left Lights Out 10 with mixed feelings over his results this past weekend at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP).

"You know what, if you take my weekend, it was absolutely, truthfully, a great weekend. We raced hard, had some fun and met some great race fans. I also want to thank my crew: Brandon Switzer, Andrew Arnold, Shane Goodnight, and Dale and Cale Hancock, and of course my girlfriend, Misty Hayes, for her undying support. I really couldn't be out there without any of them.

MASSEL REVEALS NEW SPONSOR, IN-DEPTH ACCESS TO HIS RACING

This season veteran drag racer turned Fox Sports pit reporter Bruno Massel plans to integrate his two worlds.

Massel, a past NHRA Comp Eliminator world champion, will not only serve as a voice from within the pits for the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series broadcasts but at select events will bring fans behind the scenes as a racer as well.

"We’re going to do is make it part of the television show, kind of giving a first-person perspective," Massel explained. "We’ll have mics on me and cameras in the car, kind of a day in the life type thing. From reporting to driving and back and forth. I’m excited about it."

TOP FUEL HARLEY RIDER TII THARPE INKS DEAL WITH SAMSON EXHAUST

NHRA Top Fuel Harley champion Tii Tharpe has added respected Harley-Davidson exhaust manufacturer as a sponsor to his Spevco team for the 2019 season.

The deal is for two races, starting with the 50th anniversary NHRA Gatornationals and the NHRA Springnationals in Houston, Tex.

“We here at Samson are excited to be partnering with Spevco on Tii’s bike,” said Baverstock. “Tii and Jay Turner Racing are proven winners in an exceptionally difficult class, and we are honored to be part of such a great race team.

“Since my business partner Rick Whipp and I purchased Samson in November of 2017, we have been dedicated to producing top quality aftermarket exhaust for Harleys and select Indian motorcycles at an affordable price. Rick and I have a combined 50-plus years in the exhaust industry, successfully serving both motorcycle and OEM vehicle tubing needs through both Samson Exhaust and Samson Tube Products.

BOBBY LAGANA ENJOYING ROLE WITH TORRENCE TEAM

The domination of Top Fuel driver Steve Torrence was unprecedented at the end of the 2018 season.

Torrence did the unthinkable, sweeping the final six races in the Countdown to the Championship as he rolled to his first Top Fuel world title.

Torrence continued his momentum at the season-opening Winternationals Feb. 10 at Pomona, Calif., winning three rounds in a row before falling in the finals to Doug Kalitta.

RADIAL PROMOTER DONALD LONG CALLS OUT PAT MUSI; MUSI RESPONDS

Donald “Duck” Long, the most famous promoter of drag radial racing, doesn’t race a Radial vs. The World car, but says he has been around this style of racing to know what can and can’t be done.

Fresh off of a mega-successful Lights Out 10 event last weekend, he’s not about to hear the nitrous combination cannot be competitive.

“Let me be clear about the nitrous situation,” Long said on Tuesday morning during a Facebook LIVE presentation. “I’m tired of hearing what can’t be done. I know what can be done, and this is a fact. Last time the nitrous guys said that they couldn’t compete. F****** Stevie Jackson came out there and slapped everyone around like they were a bunch of schoolkids. That’s a fact.

LAUGHLIN'S HOLESHOT WAS MONUMENTAL IN WINNING LIGHTS OUT 10

With his voice cracking, his eyes brimming with tears, and holding high the trophy and $50,000 in cash just awarded for winning Radials vs. the World (RvW) at Lights Out 10 this past Sunday night (Feb. 17), Alex Laughlin dedicated the victory to an unlikely group.

"This is for all the people that said we couldn't do it."

What he'd just done was beat Daniel Pharris with a holeshot in the closest RvW final in Duck X Productions history. After going .004 on the tree, Laughlin ran 3.694 at 205.60 mph to beat a quicker and faster 3.690 at 211.13 by Pharris, who was no slouch on the start, either, leaving with a .015 light. It all added up to just seven-thousandths of a second separating the two at the South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) eighth-mile stripe.

NHRA FANS TO VOTE FOR MATCHUPS IN "UNFINISHED BUSINESS" COMPETITION

Earlier this year, NHRA released the names of the eight NHRA Legends who would be competing in a one-time-only “Unfinished Business” competition as part of the 50th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. Now it’s time for the fans to decide who will face off in the first round of eliminations.

The legendary lineup features some of the biggest stars in NHRA Championship Drag Racing including “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, Joe Amato, Kenny Bernstein, Ed “The Ace” McCulloch, Warren Johnson and Terry Vance. To top it all off, Florida native and NHRA fan favorite Darrell Gwynn will serve as the honorary starter for this prestigious group of competitors.

LIGHTS OUT 10 - ROUND BY ROUND RESULTS

Final results from the Lights Out 10 drag radial event at South Georgia Motorsports Park outside of Valdosta, Ga. This is the first of three events for Duck X Productions.

IN DRAG RADIAL ONE TIRE GETS THE JOB DONE

It's common enough to have become expected. Every year during promoter Donald "Duck" Long's radial-racing extravaganzas, the ETs go down and the speeds go up. Technology develops, combos change, tuners get smarter, drivers get better, but one constant remains: the Mickey Thompson radial tires that put the traction to the track at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
