BALDWIN RACES POMONA WITH FAMOUS ROCKER AS GUEST

Krista Baldwin plans to have a complete Southern California weekend at the 2019 NHRA Winternationals. Baldwin welcomes WIX Filters’s distributors Sharma Contractors and Utility Trailer Sales of Southern California to her roster this weekend. She will be piloting the McLeod Racing A/Fuel dragster of Johnny Ahten and will be hosting Sublime drummer, Bud Gaugh. 

HAGAN MIGHT BE BIG, BUT HE HAS HIS LIMITS

 

The competition in NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Funny Car keeps getting bigger and bigger. As David Hagan, father of two-time champion Matt Hagan sees it one of its fiercest competitors keeps getting bigger and bigger.

His son.

"I think the car’s just getting smaller, man. I don’t know," Hagan said with a smile. "It’s all this padding and stuff we’re adding in there.

SHIRLEY MULDOWNEY LEGENDS EPISODE RESCHEDULED FOR FEB. 5

 

The premiere of Legends: The Series featuring Shirley Muldowney will be delayed until Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

Show producer Bobby Bennett said software issues which could not easily be fixed in the middle of covering this weekend's PRO Winter Warm-up, made it evident the best course of action was to hit the pause button until the team was back in the office.

NHRA LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE VIDEO AND LIVE STREAMING SERVICE

 

NHRA fans will experience the thrill of live drag racing action on a new platform for the 2019 season. The service formerly known as “NHRA All Access” is shifting gears to become NHRA.TV. Current NHRA All Access subscribers will be automatically transitioned to the new platform and will be notified via email.

BREAKING NEWS - SCHUMACHER WON’T COMPETE AT POMONA

 

Eight-time Top Fuel champion confirmed Monday he will not race at the NHRA season-opening Lucas Oil Winternationals at Pomona, Calif., this weekend.

In an open message to drag-racing fans, Schumacher made the announcement on his Facebook page Monday afternoon.

“Some of you have probably heard the news that our car is parked,” he wrote. “We are still working on a sponsorship deal. These things take time. but like I said before, I am absolutely NOT retiring. I love this sport and have dedicated most of my life to it. I love my team, and they are the best guys I know. Unfortunately, our car will not be at Pomona, but I will still be there to support my teammates and fans. Thank you all for your continued support and patience!”

ROOKIE JORDAN VANDERGRIFF IMPRESSES IN TESTING DEBUT

 

That didn't take long.

On just his third run into testing at the PRO Winter Warm-up, rookie Top Fuel driver Jordan Vandergriff made a quantum leap from the high 3.80s, down into the 3.70s with a personal best run of 3.73 seconds at 325-miles per hour.

Each run is a learning experience for the nephew of team owner Bob Vandergriff Jr., but this pass took the curriculum to a whole 'nother level as some from his Alpharetta, Ga., what his Uncle Bob's hometown folk would say.

"I know what a perfect run feels like so I know that if anything doesn’t feel like that, it’s probably not a good run.," Vandergriff, 24, said.

CROMWELL NAMED TO NHRA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

NHRA president Glen Cromwell has been elected to the NHRA Board of Directors, announced NHRA Chairman of the Board, Dallas Gardner. 

Cromwell joined NHRA in 1997 and became president at the start of 2018. He rose through the ranks from his first position as a division director and has been a key player in leading NHRA’s marketing efforts over the past 21 years.

ARBY’S NAMED TITLE SPONSOR FOR THE ARBY’S NHRA SOUTHERN NATIONALS

 

NHRA officials announced today that Arby’s will be the title sponsor of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series race at Atlanta Dragway. The 39th annual Arby’s NHRA Southern Nationals takes place May 3-5 at the track just outside of Atlanta. Tickets for the tradition rich event are on sale now.

Founded in 1964, Arby’s is headquartered in Atlanta and is the second-largest sandwich brand in the world. Arby’s has more than 3,300 restaurants in seven countries and is part of Inspire Brands, a multi-brand company that includes a portfolio of more than 8,300 restaurants.

JOHN FORCE DEALS WITH TOUGH 2018 SEASON, EVEN TOUGHER OFF-SEASON

 

John Force has never been so happy to see an offseason draw to a close, but not for the reason one might think. It was supposed to be a time for rest for Force, whose team destroyed four cars during a mechanically plagued 2018. 

"The season was pretty rough, but the offseason was worse," Force admitted, shaking his head in bewilderment. "But that’s all part of doing business. I’m really fortunate to have Robert Hight as company president. He runs so much of the race car side."
