ELITE, MODERN RACING ADD SHANE TECKLENBURG TO PROGRAM

 

The quickly expanding conglomerate formed by Elite Motorsports and Modern Racing has taken another step forward. The team is proud to announce the addition of record-setting tuner and engine management expert Shane Tecklenburg to the braintrust led by Modern Racing’s Justin Elkes.

The arrangement calls for Tecklenburg to supply the team’s three turbocharged NHRA Pro Modified entries piloted by Erica Enders, Alex Laughlin and Steve Matusek with complete vehicle management systems. 

BOB HARRIS RESIGNS POSITION AT PDRA

 

For as long as the Professional Drag Racers Association [PDRA] has existed, Bob Harris has been the man the ownership looked to in directing their ship through the sometimes treacherous waters of professional eighth-mile doorslammer racing.

Effective Sunday evening, the PDRA will be without the only Race Director it's ever known.

FUNNY CAR CHAOS UNVEILS 2019 CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE

 

Excitement and anticipation is building for funny car fans and racers as Funny Car Chaos announces its inaugural Championship tour dates for 2019! The new year will mark the debut of the Best of Texas BBQ Sauce Funny Car Chaos Championship series presented by Red Line Shirt Club. Riding momentum gained over the four event 2018 schedule, an expansion to seven events is on tap for the new year which means more funny cars and more chaos! Funny Car Chaos thundered into the drag racing scene with its unique 'run whatcha' brung' competition format which welcomes any type of funny car regardless of engine combination or body style. With five events completed since the Fall of 2017, a total of fifty different drivers have entered and competed in Funny Car Chaos events spanning across the Southwest and Midwest from Texas to Illinois. It's a concept that seems to have proved itself with the growing attendance of both racers and eager drag racing fans craving a fresh angle on funny car racing. 

MELLING AND ELITE PERFORMANCE ANNOUNCE SPONSORSHIP EXTENSION

 

 
Two-time NHRA Pro Stock World Champion, Erica Enders announced a contract extension with Melling Performance Thursday at the PRI show. The 2019 NHRA MelloYello Drag Racing Season will mark the third season of the partnership between Elite Motorsports and Melling Performance.
 
"What started off as an associate sponsorship has grown into a full blown partnership", said Enders. "Everything we do at Elite Motorsports and Performance is family and people based. It was a perfect fit with Melling as they run their business the same way."
 

THREE INDUCTED INTO NHRA NORTH CENTRAL DIVISION HALL OF FAME

SHANE TUCKER AIMS FOR 2019 NHRA PS TITLE

 

The NHRA Pro Stock journey has been a long and winding road for Shane Tucker.

Since 2014, Australian businessman Tucker has competed on a limited NHRA Pro Stock schedule.

That, however, is going to change in a big way in 2019 as Rob Tucker Racing for the first time will run a full NHRA Mell Yello Series schedule, which was reduced from 24 events to 18 events in Pro Stock beginning next season. Rob Tucker is Shane’s father and the family’s team is based in Statesville, N.C.

GAINESVILLE RACEWAY INSTALLING NEW RACING SURFACE

 

NHRA and Gainesville Raceway officials announced today that the historic facility will be installing a new concrete racing surface prior to the start of the 2019 season and the historic 50th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. Construction kicked off on Monday, December 10, at the NHRA-owned facility with plans to have the track prepped well in advance of the Gatornationals. As part of the project, the old track surface will be removed and replaced with an all concrete surface. New asphalt will also be installed beyond the finish line.

“We are excited to have a new and improved concrete racing surface just in time for the 50th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals,” said NHRA vice president of track management and operations, Kasey Coler. “There’s been so much enthusiasm and anticipation for this historic event and the new track will further enhance the level of competition that fans can expect.”

US 131 MOTORSPORTS PARK SIGNS MULTI-YEAR RENEWAL WITH IHRA

 

US 131 Motorsports Park, “The Fastest Track in Michigan,” has entered into a multi-year sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).

The Martin, Michigan, facility features racing on both the eighth-mile and quarter-mile and hosts multiple big events throughout the season. In 2018, those events included the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular, the IHRA Division 5 Summit Team Finals and one of the largest IHRA Summit SuperSeries programs in the country.
