STEVEN DENSHAM LICENSES IN BIG SHOW FUNNY CAR

Gary Densham admits there's only so much nagging a man can take.

"He's only been bugging me to drive my car since he was 12 years old," Densham said with a smile. "It's only took about 20 years for me to get around to letting him do it."

Densham confirmed that on the Monday following the NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas, his son and past NHRA Heritage Series AA/FC champion Steven earned his NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series fuel Funny Car license. He ran a 4.08 second elapsed time, at 309 miles per hour in just his second pass ever in the car.

RICHARD HARTMAN TACKLES A BEASTLY AA/FA

A Fuel Altered and a Doorslammer were the only two racing vehicles Richard Hartman hadn't driven in his career.

Since doorslammers don't burn nitro, for the crew chief of Funny Car icon Tim Wilkerson, the choice was an easy one.

Hartman, with the encouragement and assistance from Wilkerson, pursued the challenge on the Monday following the NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas.

CHECK OUT THE NEW RACERSWAREHOUSE.COM

Brian Prins believes RacersWarehouse.com is the future for the racing community. RacersWarehouse is a site run for the racers by the racers.

"Racers run this site," Prins explained. "People that know exactly what it is that you want. People that know exactly what you need. People that care about you and your company because they are in the same situation you are in and want to help your business make it and grow."

According to Prins, RacersWarehouse.com will have three major components to its business which will tie into a fourth important element.

SCSN WILL HAVE FOUR LANES AVAILABLE

It’s the event designed to test the heartiest of racer. Drag racing is a sprint. The Nitrous Outlet Street Car Super Nationals 14 Presented by FuelTech is a four-day marathon with a legacy of record-shattering runs, dominating performances by the greatest in the world, and stunning upsets.

The race is less than a month away, Nov. 15-18 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, with the drag racing world eagerly awaiting the first-ever 4-Wide(ish) SCSN. The plan, developed by SCSN Promoter and Premier Street Car Association President Mel Roth, creates one pair of lanes for Radial Tire classes and the other for Slick Tire classes. After sellout NHRA crowds arrived at The Strip earlier this year for its debut of 4-Wide West, Roth knew he had to find a way to utilize both lanes for his signature event.

WAYNE NEWBY LEADS RAI SWEEP AT AUSSIE EAST COAST THUNDER MEET

Australian Top Fuel star Wayne Newby defeated his Rapisarda Autosport International teammate Ashley Sanford to win the opening round of the 400 Thunder season at Sydney Dragway, November 2-3. Damien Harris finished third to make it a clean sweep for the powerhouse force in Australian Top Fuel.

Newby raced to victory behind the wheel of a recently acquired ex-DSR canopy car that raced for the first time on Australian soil only two days before the event.

“The canopy car is a lot quieter,” according to Newby. “You feel like you are in a cocoon. There is a bit more room in the cockpit and it’s easier to get in and out of.”

MUSI/FRANKLIN WIN 2018 FLATOUT GASKETS NITROUS WARS

The 2018 Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars is one for the history books. Although a quick look at the 2018 season Pro Nitrous pole setters shows incredible parity in the class, all but one of those drivers relies on Musi Racing Engines power. When it was all said and done after Virginia, a Musi driver was on top of the pack seven out of eight events, with Jay Cox giving Buck Racing Engines one lone #1 qualifier award at the second tour stop.

The incredible part of the Flatout Gaskets Nitrous Wars dynamic is that only one driver was able to repeat the pole position all year. Tommy Franklin topped Pro Nitrous qualifying at the season opener and then again at the Drag Wars. Other #1 qualifying awards in the first half of the season went to Musi customers Jason Harris and Randy Weatherford.

JOHN FORCE RACING AND PIT BOSS GRILLS ANNOUNCE MULTI-YEAR DEAL

John Force Racing, the 20-time NHRA world championship winning team, and Pit Boss Grills announced a multi-year agreement that will add one of the fastest growing grill brands to the fastest team in motorsports. The marketing partnership, which will officially begin in 2019, will strive to elevate Pit Boss Grills’ brand awareness across the 24-race national NHRA schedule.

Sixteen-time Funny Car world champion, John Force is racing with the Pit Boss logo on his PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro for the final two races of the NHRA 2018 season. These races include the most recent event in Las Vegas and the upcoming Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif.

MIKE KLOEBER REUNITED WITH CLAY MILLICAN IN 2019

Straightline Strategy Group, recently announced as the new ownership group of NHRA Top Fuel team Stringer Performance, is proud to announce the addition of Mike Kloeber as Crew Chief of the Parts Plus, Strutmasters Top Fuel dragster for the 2019 Season and beyond. Kloeber, who led veteran driver Clay Millican to an impressive 50 IHRA Top Fuel wins and six IHRA World Championships within a seven-year period is excited to have the opportunity to team up with Millican once again.

“Getting a call from Doug Stringer with the opportunity to race with this team provides a path to conclude some unfinished business for us all - winning a NHRA Mello Yello Championship,” said Kloeber. “With the addition of partners Scott Gardner and J.J. Koehler to the team, along with Doug whom I also share a history with, my motivation couldn’t be any higher.  Their expertise and additional resources position the program for exceptional growth and performnace,” he concluded.

SAMPEY LEADS A BUSY LIFE BOTH ON AND OFF TRACK

A lot has happened to three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Angelle Sampey since the Halloween weekend at Las Vegas in 2014. That’s when her return to the racetrack came to a gruesomely abrupt halt: she suffered a severely lacerated Achilles tendon and two others in her left leg as he helped unload the bike that Friday.

She said this Friday in Las Vegas that she had shoved that incident to the back of her mind,“ but the medic cart just passed a little while ago, and I saw it and I literally got a sick feeling and I went, ‘Uh-‘ I think about safety. I think about things now, stupid little things you don’t think you can hurt yourself with. I don’t help with the set-up [of the pit], and sometimes I feel bad, because I used to help all the time. But that’s how I got hurt.” She relented last year and was trying to put her motorcycle on the trailer when, she said, “my foot got caught on something and they were pushing the bike and the peg pushed against my Achilles real hard.” She shuddered. She said, “I didn’t think rolling the bike with me sitting on it on the ramp would be dangerous. And just that little thing right there, I almost busted it again.”

LARRY MORGAN HAS NEW FOCUS

Longtime Pro Stock owner-driver Larry Morgan is elbow-deep in engines these days – Pro Stock Motorcycle motors.

He said he has no interest in returning to the Pro Stock class but would entertain a return to the intriguing and uber-competitive Pro Mod class: “If I race a car, it will be with Jim Whitley in Pro Mod.”

Morgan this year has headed the engine program for Team Liberty, working for Cory Reed and parents Jim and Annie Whiteley on the bikes that Reed, Angelle Sampey, and Joey Gladstone ride.
