NITROUS CARS PACE FIRST-DAY RVW AT LIGHTS OUT 9

 

The bottle rockets were flying on Thursday during Day One qualifying for the No Mercy 9 drag radial event at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Ga. The nitrous-injected cars accounted for the top two spots after three sessions.

Despite not yet running his nitrous-boosted '69 Camaro out the back door at No Mercy 9, Houston, Tex.-based Naiser led the way through all three rounds of Radial vs. the World (RvW) qualifying on Thursday at South Georgia Motorsports Park. 
His 3.84 at 182.01 mph from the opening session held up as number one through Q2, and despite shutting down early in the evening session, Naiser improved to 3.76 at 190.35 to lead 36 entries vying for a spot in the 32-car RvW field.

PRO STOCK STAR TANNER GRAY LEAVING PRO STOCK AFTER SEASON

 

According to a Sept. 24 article in Autoweek.com, NHRA Pro Stock star Tanner Gray is going to make the transition to NASCAR next season.

The Autoweek article states Gray will focus on stock car racing in 2019 with the DGR-Crosley team owned by Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series veteran David Gilliland and Crosley Radio CEO Bo LeMastus.

RADIAL PROMOTER DONALD LONG HAS LEARNED TO ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES

 

When you enter the ninth time running a successful event, you learn to roll with the punches and come out swinging. The radial tire racing community has come to expect nothing less from award-winning small tire promoter Donald "Duck" Long.

Long has already been on the grounds of South Georgia Motorsports Park for a week now preparing for No Mercy 9, the third of three high-stakes, high-dollar drag radial races his Duck X Productions brand promotes.

"All these races give me butterflies still," Long admitted. "I always want to see who’s new coming out. You’ve got the same guys, which is awesome, but it’s cool to see the new blood coming in."

NHRA officials announced today that Lixar I.T., Inc., a data-driven software company that provides technology solutions, has been named software technology provider of NHRA.

This isn’t the way veteran nitro Funny Car driver Robert Hight would have written the script, but in the end, everything worked out for him in St. Louis.

In the finals of the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals Sunday, Hight clocked a 4.036-second run at 276.29 mph to defeat Tim Wilkerson’s 4.413-second pass at 201.91 mph in the second race of the Countdown to the Championship.
