Robert Hight is on a mission this weekend, starting at the NHRA Nationals in Reading, Pa. Oh yeah, and he's trying to win a third championship too.

The resume of Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Hector Arana Jr. is as impressive as anyone in the class. A quick look at some highlights make it clear he's one of the best in NHRA:

DAVID ADKINS ESTABLISHES LS MARK DURING NORWALK'S SHAKEDOWN

 

David Adkins made the most of a test session to establish a new performance mark for the LS Engine platform. During a September 13 test session in advance of the Summit Racing Equipment Shakedown at the Summit presented by Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, Adkins drove his way to a 6.03 elapsed time at 243.63 mph, and followed up the stunning pass with an even more impressive 5.975, 243.11 mph in his car built by Jerry Bickel Race Cars-built 1970 1/2 Camaro body.

HELL FROZE OVER: THE DAY MOUNTAIN MOTOR PRO STOCKS RAN AT THE U.S. NATIONALS

 

Many drag racing fans believe hell froze over on March 16, 2001, the day the first Pro Modified cars made a run down an NHRA national event. After all, the volatile doorslammers were the first "homegrown" professional category cultivated and produced under the IHRA sanction.

Those who know better categorize this as a "frosting" and not a full-blown freezing.

Stevie Jackson prides himself in pulling off the impossible.

For the decorated Pro Modified racer turned Radial Vs. The World standout, racing the upcoming Duck X Productions No Mercy 9 event September 27 - 29, 2018 is going to be impossible.

Jackson lamented his inability to race at the popular event hosted by South Georgia Motorsports Park.

ANGELLE SAMPEY INKS DEAL WITH IWI

 

Angelle Sampey of Team Liberty Racing has teamed up with iWi, a plant-based omega-3 supplement company, heading into this weekend at the 34th annual Dodge NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway.
 
“iWi really loves the cool message behind Angelle,” iWi’s Vice President of Supply Chain Rick Fenner said. “A lot of our stuff is in the natural channel and we just gained distribution in Sam’s Club, which is huge for our fairly new company. 28 FUNNY CARS ENTERED IN DENTON’S FUNNY CAR CHAOS

 

With 28  Funny Cars entered into Funny Car Chaos September 14-15th at North Star Dragway, the stage is set for what will be the biggest funny car race in decades to be hosted in the lone star state. This event will mark the fifth Chaos event for the new 'outlaw' series that debuted in Denton, Texas in the fall of 2017. With it's no rules approach to engine combination and body styles, flopper teams from across the country have found a home in this unique take on funny car competition.

TROY COUGHLIN JR WILL BE BACK IN TOP FUEL, BUT WHEN?

 

Not much time passed after Troy Coughlin Jr. decided to step away from Top Fuel racing before he knew he'd be back.

A little more than a year ago, on Aug. 26, 2017, the news went out that Coughlin Jr. was stepping away from his ride in Kalitta Motorsports' Top Fuel dragster. The third-generation racer of the famed Coughlin family said he needed more experience in the long cars, but he also knew he'd be back – someday.

"I knew about an hour after the release went out that I'd be back," Coughlin said. "I don't know what year, but (I knew) I'd crawl my way back into it."
