JOHN FORCE IS KING OF THE MOUNTAIN

John Force is alive and well.

The legendary 16-time NHRA nitro Funny Car champion, who has had his share of struggles this season, proved that Sunday at the Mile-High Nationals.

ARANA JR. WINS PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE FINAL AGAINST SAVOIE IN DOUBLE FOUL START

Who could blame Hector Arana Jr. for leaving the starting line two-thousandths of a second too early Sunday in the finals of the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway?

He was trying to break a 43-race winless streak in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class.

PS DRIVER ANDERSON GETS HIS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON IN DENVER

Back in 2016, Pro Stock teammates Jason Line, Greg Anderson and Bo Butner were nearly unbeatable.

That is the season NHRA required all Pro Stock teams to equip their cars with electronically-controlled throttle body fuel injection systems to make engines more relevant from a technology standpoint. In order to reduce and control costs for the race teams, an NHRA-controlled 10,500 Rev Limiter also was added to the fuel injection systems.

HOME-STATE HERO KRAMER ENJOYING NEW KB RACING POWER AS TOP PRO STOCK QUALIFIER AT DENVER

Home-state favorite Deric Kramer ambushed Greg Anderson and Tanner Gray on the final qualifying session for the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals and will lead the Pro Stock field into eliminations. He did it with a 6.929-second pass on the Bandimere Speedway quarter-mile at Morrison, Colo., near Denver.

Lurking in second place Friday and third place early Saturday, Kramer was poised to go for his third No. 1 qualifying position of the season.

‘STEADY EDDIE’ CONFIDENT AS HE LEADS THE BIKE FIELD INTO DENVER ELIMINATIONS

He has heard people call him “Steady Eddie.”

But Eddie Krawiec earned the nickname this weekend at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Morrison, Colo.

2018 WILL BE SWEEPLESS IN SEATTLE

No one will win the Western Swing this season. Leah Pritchett lost her bid to become the sixth Top Fuel racer to do so when she fouled out in the opening round at Sonoma. John Force (Funny Car) and Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) both had hoped to win again last week and keep their hopes alive to become the first to win the Western Swing twice, but both lost in the Sonoma semifinals.

"We've had a lot of success racing at Pacific Raceways, been going there for a long time and it's been good to us,” Force said. “The whole Western Swing has been good to John Force Racing, hopefully that will continue. If one our teams can't sweep the Swing by themselves, Robert [Hight] with Auto Club, Courtney with Advance Auto Parts, Brittany with Monster and PEAK (in Top Fuel) and me with PEAK, well then the next best thing is to sweep it as a team. We've done it before."
