MUENKS, PHARRIS AND PLIMPTON POST MWPMS WINS AT ST. LOUIS HOOTENANNY

Despite arriving at Gateway Motorsports Park last Thursday with the points lead in hand for the Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS), Ron Muenks had yet to visit victory lane this year. Muenks and his “Purple Gorilla” teammates remedied that May 26, however, by beating Jim Sackuvich for the Pro Mod title during the Premier Street Car Association’s (PSCA) 3rd annual Heads Up Hootenanny. Also going to the MWPMS winners’ circle at the track near St. Louis were Daniel Pharris with his second victory of the year in Radial vs. the World and Jimmy Plimpton with his first in X275 drag radial action.

“Unfortunately, last-minute business demands prevented me from attending the Mid-West Pro Mod Series race in St. Louis,” MWPMS owner, promoter and competitor Keith Haney said. “But I did follow it all weekend via our live online stream and I couldn’t be more proud of the job David Cook and the rest of my team did in running the race and taking care of our racers, fans and sponsors. Truthfully, I had no worries at all about it going well; I just hated having to miss a race for the first time in literally years.”

‘BOTTLES VS. BLOWERS’ GRUDGE RACE HEADLINES PDRA SUMMER DRAGS

The eighth-mile competitors of the Professional Drag Racers Association will kick off the summer portion of their eight-race season this weekend at the PDRA Summer Drags, May 31-June 2, at US 131 Motorsports Park. The event will feature a variety of exciting one-off races and competitions in addition to the standard qualifying and eliminations for the PDRA’s six professional classes and seven sportsman categories.

Among the special races is a “Bottles vs. Blowers” grudge race between two of the biggest stars in Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous presented by MoTeC and Moroso Pro Boost. Randy Weatherford, who won his first Pro Nitrous race last month at the PDRA North-South Shootout, will face off against Pro Boost points leader Tommy D’Aprile.

STOFFER IN HAWAII PROMOTING NEED FOR RACE TRACK

MWPMS HITS HALFWAY POINT WITH HEADS-UP HOOTNANNY IN ST. LOUIS

For its fourth of eight scheduled races this year, the Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) will be part of the 3rd annual Heads Up Hootenanny May 25-26, at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL, straight across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.

"We're excited about going back to St. Louis, where we had a great race last year," MWPMS owner and promoter Keith Haney said. "Chris Blair, the track manager there, he invited us last year--twice--and it's nice to know he wants us back again for both events this year, too. And it's always good to be racing on an NHRA national-event track, where you know conditions are going to be optimal for the 3.7-second, 200-mile-an-hour monsters of the Mid-West Pro Mod Series."
