JOHN FORCE WILL FLY BOSS SHOP COLORS AT INAUGURAL VEGAS FOUR-WIDE

 

Sixteen-time champion John Force will head to the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway April 6-8 with some history on his side.

The fourth of 24 events on NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series becomes the second four-wide racing event joining the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, held annually since 2010 at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.

Force won the inaugural Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte in 2010 and will be looking to do the same at the Las Vegas event.

AMETHYST BEVERAGE JUMPS IN TO SUPPORT PHIL BURKART'S FUNNY CAR EFFORT AT LAS VEGAS

Amethyst Beverage of Reno, Nevada, has announced its support of driver Phil Burkart Jr. and team owner Robert Schwab's TNT First Aid Funny Car, which will be competing for the first time this year at this weekend's 19th annual Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

MUSI STRENGTHENS RELATIONSHIP WITH EDELBROCK IN 2018

After another successful season and a run that now includes nine championships in the past five years, Pat Musi Racing Engines again has big expectations as the 2018 racing season begins.

It comes after a successful off-season that included Pat Musi Racing Engines and Edelbrock announcing an increased partnership at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show in Indianapolis last December. The industry giant was also revealed as a primary sponsor for Lizzy Musi and her 2018 racing season, which begins at the PDRA season-opener this weekend at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, NC.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DRIVERS DISCUSS FOUR-WIDE RACING

In 1960 and early 1970s four-lane drag racing was occasionally taking place throughout the United States.

Then, back in 2010, the inaugural Four-Wide Nationals took place in Charlotte, N.C., at zMax Dragway

Fast-forward to the present and NHRA now has second track hosting a Four-Wide national event.

HANEY POSTS WIN AT RADIAL REVENGE

 

Veteran drag racer Keith Haney saved his best for last Mar. 31, during Radial Revenge Tour 2018 at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park. Driving “Enigma,” his nitrous-boosted 2016 Camaro, Haney covered the eighth mile in 3.75 seconds at 197.86 mph to set a new track elapsed time record while leading stripe-to-stripe for the win over Tim Slavens in the Radial vs. the World final.

Slavens ran 3.78 at 212.26 in his twin-turbocharged ’69 Camaro for a close runner-up finish. The track ET record prior to the Radial Revenge event was 3.79 seconds, with Slavens and Haney trading it back-and-forth five times throughout qualifying and eliminations.

JEGGIE TO UNVEIL FLAT BLACK PAINT SCHEME IN VEGAS

 Five-time Pro Stock world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. will sport a new look at this weekend's Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals when he unveils a new flat-black JEGS.com/Elite Performance Chevrolet Camaro.
 
"We're doing something a little out of the norm for us with this flat-black Camaro built by Rick and Rickie Jones and the group at RJ Racecars," Coughlin said. "It's a great car that feels really comfortable and we've dressed it up with bright yellow JEGS logos on the doors as well as the traditional SS stripes. It's a really cool look I think the fans will like.
  
"This car was actually driven in a few events by Richie Stevens and later by Val Smeland but (team owner) Richard Freeman recently reacquired it and we decided after our somewhat roller coaster start to the season to put it in service and see if we can't break free and run at the top of the class again."
 

LINDBERG STILL SEARCHING FOR HIS GROOVE AFTER CRASH

 

It wasn't the perfect rebound, but it was a rebound nonetheless.

Sophomore fuel Funny Car pilot Jonnie Lindberg returned to competition last month following a harrowing two-car car crash with John Force in a second round race at the NHRA Arizona Nationals. 

Lindberg is driving a newly front-halfed Jim Head Funny Car from John Force Racing cloaked with a Mustang body. 

The first time out wasn't what Lindberg has hoped for at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.

NOBILE SECURES STARTING POSITION INTO K&N HORSEPOWER CHALLENGE IN LAS VEGAS

Vincent Nobile is the winner of the K&N Horsepower Challenge online fan vote and has secured the No. 8 starting spot in the Pro Stock bonus event taking place this weekend in Las Vegas. Nobile will face Bo Butner, the No.1 qualifier, in the first round of the K&N Horsepower Challenge.

In addition to Nobile vs. Butner, other first round pairings are defending winner Greg Anderson vs. Erica Enders; Jason Line vs. Jeg Coughlin; and Drew Skillman vs. Tanner Gray.

COLEMAN JOINS VP RACING FUELS AS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANT IN EUROPE

VP Racing Fuels, Inc., announced that Peter Coleman of Birmingham, U.K. has been named Business Development Consultant for Europe.

Coleman has extensive sales & marketing experience with the international brands STP and Armor All and most recently as Brand Manager for Bridgestone.

PHIL BURKART JR. TO DRIVE ROBERT SCHWAB'S FUNNY CAR AT LAS VEGAS

Funny Car veteran and multi-time national event winner Phil Burkart Jr. will reunite with team owner Robert Schwab at the upcoming Four-Wide NHRA Nationals behind the wheel of the TNT First Aid Funny Car.
 
Burkart and Schwab raced three events together in 2017 -- Pomona 1, Phoenix and Las Vegas 1 -- successfully qualifying for all three races.
