JOHN FORCE RACING TO BE FEATURED ON HBO’S REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL

John Force Racing spent four days with the award-winning HBO sports journalism series ‘Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel’ over the past two weeks. The dynamic team, headed by NHRA great John Force, will be featured on the Emmy winning show Tuesday, March 27 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

“Who doesn’t love HBO? I’m excited to have them feature not just my family but our sport. I have to give it to the crew: They really worked hard and gave it the time that it needed,” said Force, the 16-time NHRA Funny Car world champion. “I haven’t seen the show so the proof is in the pudding but I know it’s going to be great. They put four days of filming into it. And I want to thank NHRA for the help they gave getting HBO the footage they needed on track.”

RADIAL VS. THE WORLD STILL SEALS THE DEAL FOR DUCK X PRODUCTIONS

The class may be called Radial vs. the World (RvW), but when 16 of the baddest RvW entries in the country go head-to-head over a $101,000 winner-take-all-purse this weekend in Donald “Duck” Long’s inaugural Sweet 16 event, it’s almost certain every one of them will be rolling on Mickey Thompson 315 drag radial tires. For all practical purposes, “The World” has pretty much ended.

Long specifically created Radial vs. the World nearly a decade ago to headline his hugely popular Duck X Productions events at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Originally intended to challenge all comers to take on his favorite racers in the drag radial world, the original concept sought to create common ground on which slick-tire competitors, regardless of chassis type, could step up against those shod with drag radials out back.

MICKE BLASTS HIS WAY TO THE TOP OF SWEET 16 QUALIFYING

Last fall Mark Micke was on the fence about building a Pro Modified style car to keep up with the changing face of the Radial vs. The World class. But in the end, Micke, of Jefferson City, Mo., decided to stick to his guns and keep running his boxy '78 Chevelle Malibu.

Thursday night during the Q-3 session at the Duck X Productions $101,000-to-win Sweet 16 event, Micke ended the first day of qualifying with both guns blazing.

PRITCHETT FINED $10,000 BY NHRA

The NHRA imposed a $10,000 monetary fine against Leah Pritchett for violating NHRA Rules, particularly Section 1.3.1 Participant Conduct of the 2018 NHRA Rulebook.

SNEAK PEEK - J.R. CARR'S NEW MOUNTAIN MOTOR PRO STOCKER

There's something sexy about a Pro Stocker which still runs a hood scoop. This new car for veteran J.R. Carr is headed for the PDRA's mountain motor Pro Stock arena and will draw power from a massive Sonny's Race Engines powerplant. .

CORY MAC WINS INAUGURAL NITRO OUTLAW RACING ASSOCIATION EVENT

McClenathan defeated Jack Wyatt with a mark of 4.08 at 301 mph. to 6.72 at 114 mph.

READ FAMILY MAKES RETURN TO TOP FUEL RACING

Jim Read remains an iconic entity in Australian drag racing long after his days of being the country's first driver to exceed 300 miles per hour back in 2000.

Read has since retired, and the Hall of Famer continues to live on the strip though sons Bruce and Phil continue the Read legacy on the drag strip.

The Read family returned to the strip this season for the Santo’s Nitro Thunder and quickly grabbed everyone's attention at Sydney Dragway with the quickest 60-foot ET in Australia at .808 of a second.

The weekend the Read family plans to run their “Black Mamba” dragster at the Santo’s Super Thunder, their first outing with the car at Willowbank since 2014.

CHAMPIONSHIP DRAMA RAMPS UP FOR SOUTHERN THUNDER

Southern Thunder rumbles into Adelaide International Raceway,  Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, as the latest round of the 400 Thunder Professional Drag Racing Series ramps up the drama in the championship chase.

Hot on the heels of a scintillating Mactrack Westernationals at Perth Motorplex, the 400 Thunder Pro Slammers are set to duke it out over a 1000 feet race distance on Adelaide International Raceway's unique all-bitumen race surface.

After dominating Western Australia with an event win, top qualifying honours and a new national speed record, 400 Thunder championship leader Paul Mouhayet (NSW) and talented crew chief Billy Stocklin will need to quickly come to terms with Adelaide, another track they have never raced their Moits Racing/Komatsu/Mack Ford Mustang on before.

HAGAN - HIGHT - A TALE OF TWO H-BOMBS

The only thing missing in the second round Funny Car race between Matt Hagan and Robert Hight at the NHRA Gatornationals was Hollywood actor Dean Winters recording one of his famous AllState moments of mayhem commercials.

Robert Hight exploded an engine at mid-track, blowing the Camaro SS body on his Auto Club Funny Car to smithereens. Less than a second late, the same thing happened to Hagan, with his Mopar Dodge Charger Funny Car body becoming carbon fiber confetti.

Hagan limped through for the win while Hight crossed the centerline, drawing not only a disqualification from crossing the centerline but also a point penalty.

LAUGHLIN SETS HIS SIGHTS ON POTENTIAL 101K PAYDAY

Alex Laughlin is a very focused driver; focused on the task at hand. However, while signing autographs with fans at the NHRA Gatornationals, he found it awful hard not to think about his potential payday coming up as the Drag Radial world descends upon South Georgia Motorsports Park for the $101,000-to-win Radial vs. The World spectacle known as The Sweet 16.

That's right, as many as 50 Drag Radial heavy-hitters will look for a berth in the 16-car shootout and for Laughlin, the NHRA Pro Stock frontrunner, he's hoping to be the talk of the town next week, or realistically, just be one of the players..

"I’ll be happy to go out and just at least make the field and have a shot at it," Laughlin said. "Realistically, we do have a competitive enough car to win it as long as I do my part and Frankie Taylor does his part making it fast, then we should have a car that can win the whole thing.
