UPDATED: BRITTANY FORCE RACING THIS WEEKEND

Ten days after a harrowing crash, NHRA Top Fuel champion Brittany Force depends on others to tell her what went wrong during the first round of eliminations at the NHRA Arizona Nationals outside of Phoenix, Az.

Force was racing Terry Haddock when her Monster Energy-sponsored dragster lost traction just shy of the 330-foot mark, spinning the tires and turning left. She was able to straighten the car just as the dragster crossed the centerline, but the momentum of the errant dragster carried into a solid side impact with the retaining wall.

The subsequent retaining wall strike spun the dragster around, propelling it through the 1000-foot mark backward. Force's dragster then spun around yet again and rolled over on its side, and then upright where it slid to a stop with a trail of burning fuel behind it.

To this date, she has watched only part of the incident, and for her, that small sampling was more than enough.

TOP FUEL DRIVER KINSLEY TO RACE AT PHOENIX

Before last year, Top Fuel pilot Kebin Kinsley was an unknown driver to most NHRA fans.

That changed last season at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. At NHRA’s premier race, Kinsley qualified No. 16 and then shocked the drag racing world by reaching the final round before his Cinderella run ended with a loss to Steve Torrence.

COUGHLIN LOOKING TO EXTEND HISTORIC MARK

Jeg Coughlin Jr. isn't one to rest on his laurels, even if those achievements are pretty lofty.

Coughlin resides in exclusive company; so exclusive in fact that he's the only drag racer in the NHRA's 67-years of existence to win national event titles in seven different classes.

This weekend Coughlin is prepared to raise the bar even higher this weekend at the NHRA Arizona Nationals located outside of Phoenix.  Coughlin plans to race Top Sportsman in Phil Unruh's Corvette in addition to his regular work in the JEGS.com/Elite Performance Pro Stocker.

A YEAR OF PERSONAL MISFORTUNE ERASED WITH ONE BILLY GLIDDEN RUN

A year ago, Billy Glidden found himself battered, bruised, and a bit stunned after making his first test hit of the 2017 season.

The small-tire icon turned Pro Modified racer left the starting line at Orlando Speed World hard when his "tired" Mustang abruptly turned right and impacted the retaining wall before crossing the track where it struck the left retaining wall. Glidden was knocked unconscious, but came to as medical personnel extracted him from the car. He suffered five broken ribs and bruised lungs,

One day short of the one year anniversary of the first in a number of personal hits, Glidden climbed behind the wheel of his 1968 Camaro sponsored by the Skillman Auto Group and made his first run of the 2018 season.
