AUSSIE MATHESON ON THE RIGHT PATH FOR THUNDER 400 SUCCESS

Two weeks ago at Willowbank’s New Years Thunder event Australian Top Bike champion Chris Matheson saw significant improvements in the performance of his Nitro Voodoo V2 Top Fuel Motorcycle.

Matheson had the opportunity to match-race in a nitro dual alongside Perth’s Mark Drew and despite the extreme heat and humidity, he recorded a promising elapsed time of 6.23 seconds.

HECTOR ARANA SR., JUNIOR READY FOR 2018

With the 2018 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle season on the horizon, there will be two familiar faces competing again in the Pro Stock Motorcycle ranks – Hector Arana Sr. and Hector Arana Jr.

The father-son team will back in the mix – beginning with the Gatornationals March 15-18 in Gainesville, Fla. – and the elder Arana is optimistic about the upcoming season.

“Our goal is to win rounds and be a contender for the championship,” Arana Sr. said. “We have worked hard, and not just us, I know every team is working hard, but I do want to win another championship, or I would love to see my son win the championship. He’s an excellent rider.”

20 YEARS LATER, MILLICAN STOMPING THAT LOUD PEDAL NATURALLY

No matter how old we get, no matter how much the stress of being an adult gets to us, we all have that one thing that immediately transports us back to our childhood.

Maybe it is a trip to the local park. Perhaps it is the smell of a campfire, or the taste of your favorite ice cream, or the cool breeze against your face on a hot summer day.

Or, just maybe, it is the smell of nitro. The rush of adrenaline when 10,000 horses roar to life. The unmistakable earth-shake at the hit of a nitro-powered engine leaving the starting line.

Clay Millican knows that feeling. And he knows it well.

Well, maybe.

A SIMPLE CHOICE STEERED BRITTANY INTO TOP FUEL

There are times in each of our lives when we are faced with challenges which appear insurmountable.

When faced with her seemingly insurmountable decision, Brittany Force's mother reminded her how simple her choice should be.

“Try,” followed by “then walk away” was the simple advice Laurie Force gave to her middle daughter, who at the time was focused on teaching fifth graders and the relaxation of racing part-time in a A/Fueler.

Using her mother's advice, Brittany finally gave in to the insistence of her father to test drive a top fuel dragster. At the time, Brittany's thought was simple – take one run and walk away.

In a campaign which went back and forth in the first day, Capps pulled into a slight lead on Day 2 and held on by a slim margin, winning the closest race of the four contested on the first day, 53-percent to 47.
