SCHUMACHER LEADS TOP FUEL QUALIFYING AFTER DAY ONE AT LAS VEGAS

This season hasn’t gone according to plan for Top Fuel standout Tony Schumacher.

The eight-time world champion arrived at the NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the second to final race of the season, sixth in the point standings.

No nitro Funny Car driver was faster than Jack Beckman Friday in Las Vegas.

The driver of the Don Schumacher Racing Infinite Hero Dodge clocked a 3.867-second elapsed time at 329.50 mph to claim the provisional No. 1 qualifying spot Friday at the NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

STEVENSON POWERS TO PRO MOD QUALIFYING LEAD DURING NHRA TOYOTA NATIONALS

Dan Stevenson was the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series top qualifier on Friday during the series portion of the NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing is presented by Real Pro Mod Association which is the season ending event for the category.
 
Stevenson in his ’16 Camaro raced to an impressive time of 5.804-seconds at 252.66 mph during the second qualifying session.

WILD VIDEO - LATINO WALKS AWAY FROM DEVASTATING VEGAS PRO MOD CRASH

J&A Services Pro Mod racer Eric Latino wasn't the least bit happy after Friday's Q-1 session at the NHRA Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas.

Latino left the starting line in the left lane, but after severe tire shake, his supercharged Camaro made an abrupt turn right into Jim Whiteley's lane, missing the turbocharged racer. The car car headed for a direct hit into the retaining wall, but a last-second turn resulted in a side impact. The out of control car then headed back to the left lane where it impacted violently the left retaining wall. The car slid to a halt, where he exited the car under his own power.

NHRA PRO MOD TITLE TO GO DOWN TO WIRE

 

NHRA's J&A Services Pro Modified championship has whittled down to a pair of titans, and this weekend in Las Vegas, one of the two will walk away with the jackpot. 

Troy Coughlin, a two-time winner in the series, leads the points headed into the NHRA Toyota Nationals, uncharted waters for the Jegs-sponsored driver who won both titles from behind. 

Mike Castellana, a longtime nitrous stalwart, is challenging in his maiden season driving a supercharged entry tuned by Frank Manzo.

REDLINE SHIRT CLUB GROWS TO KEEP CLASSIC DRAG RACING T-SHIRTS ALIVE

 

Randy Ranew, the driving force behind the popular Redline Shirt Club is excited about what he sees these days.

The Redline Shirt Club, a program which specializes in delivering nostalgia-themed t-shirts to its members monthly for a monthly fee with no required length of membership, has enjoyed considerable growth in the last few years. 

"This month's t-shirt we did Jeb Allen," Ranew said.  "It was a really beautiful shirt; it came out great. I had always wanted to do a Jeb Allen shirt, but I wasn’t able to contact him. So our good buddy Tom McEwen found him, contacted him for me. Jeb Allen gave his approval; we came out with a design and that shirt is a shirt for October."

GOFORTH WINS EIGHTH CHAMPIONSHIP WITH SONNY'S POWER

This season Cary Goforth secured his eighth Mountain Motor Pro Stock Championship across four organizations. All eight championships came with the aid of Sonny’s Racing Engines, attesting the prowess of Sonny’s horsepower on both the eighth and quarter-miles.

“I'm proud of this because there have been a lot of people from day one when we started this journey that helped us get started, that helped us with advice, that helped us on the team, that were with us through the years,” Goforth said of the 2017 PDRA Extreme Pro Stock World Championship. “I think about those people. I think about our families at home, and all the people that have supported us, like Sonny and his team.
