SHAWN LANGDON TO RACE FUEL FUNNY CAR IN 2018

Shawn Langdon never figured in a million years he'd have the opportunity to race a Top Fuel dragster. Likewise, he never imagined driving a fuel Funny Car would be in the cards either.

Friday evening at the NHRA Fall Nationals outside of Dallas, Texas, Langdon revealed he's following the lead of teammate and friend J.R. Todd and will be headed over to Funny Car in 2018.

Langdon's sponsor, Global Electronic Technology, a Torrance, Ca.-based company with over a quarter-century of expertise in the payment processing industry, will make the move with him to a Toyota Funny Car. He will essentially assume the same crew led by Nicky Boninfante and Tommy DeLago which turned the wrenches for soon-retiring Alexis DeJoria.

Ron Capps is not the type of guy to take anything for granted.

Consider how he spent much of his free time last week in the paradise conditions of Hawaii during a promotional event for his sponsor NAPA.

THROWDOWN IN T-TOWN TO DECIDE 2017 MWPMS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Drag racers from all across the United States are heading to Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park this weekend (Oct. 13-14), for the Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) World Finals, held in conjunction with the Throwdown in T-Town, which promises to rank among the biggest drag races held nationwide this year. MWPMS world champions in four classes will be crowned at Tulsa in the last of five races for the organization’s inaugural season, headlined by the wild and unpredictable Pro Mod class, where drivers wheel their fire-breathing machines to 3.7-second passes at more than 210 mph over the eighth mile. Also racing for championships will be teams in Radial vs. the World, X275 and MX235, all using various sizes of drag radial tires as opposed to the huge, rear slicks on the Pro Mods.

AMROSINI WINS BYRON DRAGWAY’S POWER WHEELSTAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

After a two year hiatus from competition, "Wheelie King" Brian Ambrosini took his place again on the throne of Byron Dragway's Power Wheelstand Championships.

The win did not come without stiff competion. Chris Pearce was the early favoritewhen he carried his "Chinto" Pinto to a 500' Round 1 pass. And when three time Champion Jason Schubert took his show quality 1978 Olds Cutlass over the wall at 800' in Round 2 , it looked to be anyone but Ambrosini.

DEJORIA REFLECTS ON HER REASONS FOR STEPPING AWAY

Alexis DeJoria knew her decision was going to be a tough one. Admittedly, a decision she pondered as early as July 2016 tested the boundaries of the entire emotional spectrum.

On Monday, October 9, 2017, just four days before the NHRA Fall Nationals outside of Dallas, Tex., the place where it all began for  DeJoria, daughter of billionaire-entrepreneur John Paul DeJoria released a heavily emotional weight from her shoulder and announced her retirement at the conclusion of the 2017 season.

"I actually was kind of tossing it around last season, before Sonoma, just so you know," DeJoria said. "I don’t want anybody to think that was a deciding factor because it really wasn’t. But again I wanted you to know, it’s like you just want that one more year, just one more year, one more win, one more shot at the big, big trophy. And you know I started to lose sight of the things that I have done, and what I have accomplished.
