Good Vibrations Motorsports, a leading supplier of aftermarket racing equipment, will be the presenting sponsor of NHRA All Access taking place at the California Hot Rod Reunion presented by Automobile Club of Southern, NHRA officials announced. Good Vibrations Motorsports will also provide a bonus for the 7.0 Pro Class and be involved in the popular event as a contingency sponsor.
All the racing action will be featured on NHRA All Access and a weekend pass can be purchased at $9.95 with current subscribers receiving the content at no additional charge. The weekend pass will go on sale Oct.
DENSO Products and Services Americas, Inc., will serve as the lead sponsor of Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Angie Smith at the upcoming NHRA Carolina Nationals. The Sept. 15-17 races take place at Smith’s hometown racetrack, zMAX Dragway in Concord, N.C.
The event is the first of the Countdown to the Championship, the six final race weekends of the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Only the top 10 competitors qualify for the Countdown, based on total points earned over 10 hard-fought Pro Stock Motorcycle contests leading up to the final races.
Pro Stock rookie Tanner Gray has already made his mark on the quarter mile, winning four times in his first 16 races.
The new wrap on his Chevy Camaro that he will be sporting at the NHRA Carolina Nationals this weekend, and throughout the Countdown, will pay tribute to his racing experience before he took to the drag strip. Gray began his racing career in circle track track and kart racing.
The Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS), based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced that it has named David “Cookie” Cook as its new race director. Cook also will oversee all track preparation efforts for the growing eighth-mile drag racing organization that typically appears as a supplemental draw for each host track’s regularly scheduled special events.
“I’m pretty excited about this,” Cook said. “There are a lot of race teams based in this part of the country but there’s not a lot of national touring series that come over this far, so I think the Mid-West Pro Mod Series really fills a void. It’s already well on its way to becoming one of the best Pro Mod series in the country and I’m ready to do whatever I can to help it get there as soon as possible.”
Two friends, who were test driving a Dodge Challenger Hellcat at the Central Colorado Regional Airport in Buena Vista, Colo., Sept. 8, both died in a high-speed crash when their car sped off the end of the runway and across a ravine.

Steve Torrence was the mighty one, ultimately, commandeering the $100,000 winner’s share of the Traxxas Shootout purse Saturday, winning the race Monday, and reclaiming the points lead for the start of the Countdown to the Championship.
Tony Schumacher, the Indianapolis dominator, reached the Traxxas final round but closed qualifying with a startling engine explosion that left him unhurt but saying his team would have to replace every part and piece on the dragster. He returned race day morning and powered his way to the semifinal round.
